I heard that the defensive coordinator at Scott Co was interested. Coach Thomas.

I think he may have had some issues that could permit him from coaching again in the near future...

 

He did leave for some personal family issues. Nothing he did wrong or family did wrong. Health issues in the family. I believe he will get back into coaching but probably not for a few years.

That was a policy that was actually not targeted at just the incident at NL. I can PM why that policy was put into place as it is not proper to post on this forum, but it did not involve the incident at NL.

 

However, both football programs now have some unpaid volunteer assistants. In other cases, they divided the pay between volunteers so that they became paid coaches. There were always loopholes in the system.

I wasn't given names, but a few persons for both the NL and SL programs who aren't being paid, but are around to assist on gamedays. Not sure if they would really be considered assistant coaches, so my terminology is may not be 100% accurate.

 

I think that both ADs are cracking the whip a little more as to who is on the sidelines, as they should.

Both schools are just allowed 6 assistance coaches, no more, no matter how you cut it.

That doesn't lend itself to being a very successful football program. I can't think of how anyone would expect a 5A team to reach its potential with only 6 assistant coaches.

5A Letcher County Central had around 12 coaches.

5A Harlan County had 10 paid assistants.

4A Bell County usually has a lot also.

Exactly...how can any team in Laurel County expect to be successful without any more community and/or in school assistant coaches?

Bell Co. has 8 but they are paid extremely low. $1500 and no experience raise.

Wow 1500 for Bell Co. assistants, 4000plus for Laurel assistants, Bell is getting a big bang for little bucks in comparison.:eek:
