March 3, 200917 yr I heard they searched 24,000 square miles of water. They found the boat and Schuyler, a cooler, and a lifejacket... Not good signs. The search is officially called off at this point. They mentioned on sports center that members of one of the players family may try and keep searching in an amatuer search. With the way that the water has been described on here, and the kind of equipment I heard the coast guard was using, I don't think that is a good idea. I know it is hard for them, and wish them all the luck in the world, but I just don't know how smart it is... I don't want to sound flippant, but if the Coast Guard can't find these men, unless Ross Perot owes you a favor, it's not likely that family members will be successful. Doesn't sound like a great idea to me, but I guess if I were in the family's shoes I would try everything I could.
March 4, 200917 yr Strange, indeed; however, I am not going to pretend to know what the emotional rollercoaster ride she is on is like. Nice post. I have seen many strange reactions in the face of tradgedy and have reacted strangely to others, myself.
March 4, 200917 yr Search is over I think. Sad sad situation. I've only been way out fishing twice on the ocean and both times we stayed around a lot of boats. I talked to the guide and he said believe it or not there are still a lot of pirates (don't wear the patch) but they do throw people off their boat and take all their stuff. It seems like it would also help in a situation like this one. We came back in after a couple of hours one time because we were getting thrown all over the place. It was about a week and a half after a hurricane. It was awful! Just about everybody on the boat ended up sick. The last time out was one of the best times I had in my life. We brought in over 30 fish and they had to be pretty darn big to bring back. Mother Nature is one thing that I don't think you can mess around with. It's amazing how violent she can be!

And like I said earlier, I'm not going to sugarcoat it at all. I don't like being in boats over a large body of water, nevertheless in the open ocean... Scares me to death. You have no idea what is in that water right next to you...

Imagine it being like 50 degrees out and getting into a pool with temperatures sitting around 60 for days. Hypothermia sets in and after that it's just a slow progression towards...well yeah. =/ It's awful.

March 4, 200917 yr My great uncle was on the USS Indianapolis, read up on that story. I've given a few speeches and written a few papers on it. Scary stuff. They were in the ocean for 5 days in shark infested waters. These guys can make it, but it's not looking like it's a possibility with the temperatures.
