From everything I've seen Schuyler said that the four of them didn't have life jackets when the boat capsized, but they swam underneath of it and got them.

 

Breaking news, and it isn't good.... Looks like the coast guard is suspending the search at 6:30 PM. If they aren't found in the next 2 hours and 15 minutes... :cry:

I heard a guy today that is very credible. He said it was one of the wildest nights he has seen on the Gulf excluding hurricanes. They said the current was getting up to a something like 2 miles a minute or something like that. The guys were together really close to the hour that the one guy was found. Doesn't look real good right now. Hopefully they have clung together on something.

This is terrible. I was really hoping they would find the rest guys that were missing.

I don't know if fell asleep or what happened, but they needed to stay with the boat. If all possible.

The family of one of the missing has already started funeral arrangements. They're gone.

The seas were very rough. The article I read yesterday stated that some of the waves were up to 15 feet.

 

It'd be very difficult to stay with the boat, especially since all 4 of them were pretty big guys.

Did anyone watch the interview with one of the missing player's wife on ESPN just a moment ago?

 

I would imagine she would be very distraught about the situation but, to my amazement, she was very calm about it. What made me kind of mad though was as she was doing the interview with ESPN answering questions, it seemed like she was about to laugh any second and that troubles me. Your husband is lost at sea and you are about to laugh in a situation like this? Makes me wonder...

 

I saw the interview. WOW! She almost bursted out laughing, very tacky and I'd be having her sign some papers when I got back on shore if they find him.

The seas were rough up until this morning. They're still at 3-4 ft and the wind out of the north is cold. It got up to the low 60's this afternoon, but the wind makes if feel much colder. It was in the mid 40's this morning and the wind was still gusting.

 

As I posted earlier, it was really bad here Sunday morning. Not only was the wind bad, but it was coming out of the north. It started raining inland in the early morning, so I, figure if they were 50 miles out, they got hit with the front about 3 hours earlier, probably around 10 or 11 pm. They would have already been in the water 5 to 6 hours by that time. It's hard to hang on to anything when your hands are cold and wet.

Strange, indeed; however, I am not going to pretend to know what the emotional rollercoaster ride she is on is like.

I heard they searched 24,000 square miles of water. They found the boat and Schuyler, a cooler, and a lifejacket... Not good signs. The search is officially called off at this point.

 

They mentioned on sports center that members of one of the players family may try and keep searching in an amatuer search. With the way that the water has been described on here, and the kind of equipment I heard the coast guard was using, I don't think that is a good idea. I know it is hard for them, and wish them all the luck in the world, but I just don't know how smart it is...

Sad, sad story. I guess it's little short of a miracle that there was one survivor.

 

For some strange reason, I'm reminded of the circumstances of Payne Stewart's death a few years back. Not a lot of similarities, other than the fact that a professional athlete and his associates were involved, along with reliance on a craft of some type.
