Much better? I wouldn't call 3 more NCAA tournament appearances, the same amount of sweet 16 appearances, and 6 more wins much better. Let's just break down the two.

Horn has had 2 early NIT exits, but he was also coaching at WKU, not Texas A&M. I honestly believe Horn would get more out of this UK team than him, and the one last year for that matter. But that's just me. What do I know.

I understand the points that you've made. I'd just like to see how Horn does without Downey. He may excel. I hope he does. He seems like a decent guy. I don't wish him failure at all. But he may struggle too.

 

BCG had great success in his last two positions, as did Horn. I just don't see how Horn has proven himself to be any better a coaching prospect than BCG. Even if BCG had secured himself a solid PG, it would be extremely difficult to turn over the controls of the team to a freshman. That's why he made the huge effort to keep Jasper.

 

The one thing Horn can do that BCG cannot is keep from making a donkey of himself on national television. For the life of me, I don't understand why he has to be such a bullhead. I'm not asking him to enjoy interviews (and interviewers), but he doesn't have to be an idiot about it.

Even with his 2+ million dollar salary, Billy Clyde often makes the mistake of thinking it is spelled...........C-L-A-$-$.

Earlier this year it was BGP and Pelphrey. Now it is Horn. Next week it will be Travis Ford. Show a little patience, people.

I will tell you, the new coach was breathing down the doctor's neck to clear Derrick Jasper to get back into the lineup. Same with Jodie Meek's sports hernia injury.

 

Derrick Jasper had too much class to come out and bash Billy Clyde. Instead, he quietly finished out the spring semester and elected to blame his transfer on homesickness. He is a first class kid and when he gets healthy, he will be a great basketball player for the Runnin' Rebels.

Darrin Horn is definitly hotter than Billy G right now. What hes done at South Carolina has been very impressive! But in coaching things can change very quickly. In 2 weeks we maybe singing Billy G's praises. (or not).

 

As far as Darrin Horn goes I believe hes a very impressive coach. The only question mark I would have is recruiting. Simply because he hasn't been at a big program long enough to recruit and get some very good players.

 

Exactly, people even went to the extreme last season and praised Dennis Felton at UGA, now look at him. A coach might be hot one year and the bottom fall out the next, at least with BCG the bottom hasn't fallen out. I know some Cat fans think it has but they are also the ones who possess the most extreme paranoi, I've ever witnessed.

 

Besides take Downey off that team and Horn may be looking like Bruce Pearl this year, without Lofton.

If were throwing out crazy names I would like a former player. Maybe Scott Padgett.

If BCG doesn't have this Team where it needs to be in two more years, Travis Ford or John Pelphrey will be the Coach at UK. Just my 2 cents.

I am not dodging anything. I could give a hoot about who would win this one basketball game with a silly hypothetical swap of players.

 

I am worried about the immediate future of probably the top basketball program in the country......one that is very dear to my heart. I am worried about the program whose leadership I greatly question.

 

This is not Texas A&M, this is not UTEP. This is Kentucky! This is the top of the mountain. Billy Clyde was given the keys to a machine with seventy plus years of basketball excellence. He is operating the machine with reckless abandon!
