After reading this thread, I just want to say that I do not want to hear any of these people talking about how good the Cats played today if they come out and beat LSU. Once you're off the bandwagon, please stay off, thanks.

For the record, I am the biggest UK sports fan any of you know. Each and every game, I cheer my heart out for the Big Blue if I am at the game or watching it on television. The only change is I do not like the leader of the UK basketball program.

 

While recognizing all their strengths and weaknesses, I did like Tubby Smith, Rick Pitino, Eddie Sutton, Joe Hall, and Adolph Rupp. I wish to not have Billy Gillispie as the head coach of UK. I still root for the players in each and every game. It is just nothing will change if Billy Gillispie recruits LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan. Billy Clyde is a rat and will always be a rat, in my honest opinion.

Forgive us for constantly debating this point with you, but the only info you have given us to support your claim is that you believe he tried to push Meeks and Jasper in to playing last season. No offense, but I would have been trying to get them on the court as well. BCG may be a slime bag, but he is not an idiot and is well aware of the consequences of putting an injured player on the court. The doctors and players have the final say on these matters anyways.

I said I liked all the former UK coaches including Eddie Sutton. In fact, one of my favorite UK teams was Eddie Sutton's first team in 1985-86 with Kenny Walker, Winston Bennett, Ed Davender, James Blackmon, and Roger Harden. 32-4.

 

I honestly thought that this year's team had the ingredients to play the same type style that that team did, but I was wrong.

We could only wish that Billy Clyde could coach the game like Eddie Sutton.

I started the thread because of a disdain I have for the current leadership of the University of Kentucky basketball program. It is not personal. It is obvious there are major issues both inside and outside the white lines! A man has been hired that is not up to all facets involved with being the Head Basketball Coach of the University of Kentucky. Billy Clyde could be winning 90% of his games and I would still have the same opinion. There is much, much more to the job than winning or losing against South Carolina on Wednesday night.

 

Oh, by the way, UK should beat South Carolina in basketball and usually does.

My thinking that Billy Clyde is not a good fit as the Mens Basketball Coach at the University of Kentucky is not base on his win/loss record.

Like him or not, Eddie Sutton is one of the better coaches in college basketball history. His record bears that out. If Billy Gillispie's career record comes close to Sutton's, he should be proud of himself.

 

And let's face it ... things were so out of control at Kentucky when Sutton got there, that was inevitable the school would get caught. Sutton just happened to be there when the music stopped.
