February 27, 200917 yr If only the NCAA would allow trades! UK and Mitch Barnhart could give USC Billy Gillispie and one or two million dollars or more in exchange for Darrin Horn. It is time for Barnhart and UK to cut their future losses!
February 27, 200917 yr Because you'd be so happy with losing to Charleston and having your best win be over Florida? Sure they're 20-6, but their SOS is 20 spots behind UK, and we've all heard the complaints about UKs weak schedule.
February 27, 200917 yr Author In Darrin Horn, UK gets: * A coach who has played the game * A coach with Division I coaching experience * A coach who grew up knowing the magnitude of UK basketball * A coach who is a native son * A coach who plays an exciting brand of basketball * A coach with a squeeky clean image and reputation * A coach who would always represent the university in a fashionable manner * A coach with communication skills * A coach with CLASS! * Etc, Etc, Etc. In Billy Gillispie, South Carolina would get: * A coach with too many negative traits to discuss on this forum, trust me!

Sure they're 20-6, but their SOS is 20 spots behind UK, and we've all heard the complaints about UKs weak schedule. That is because they are South Carolina. We are UK and need to start acting like college basketball's elite program. Let's fix things now, starting at the top!

I am not jumping on Darrin Horn's bandwagon because he beat UK twice and South Carolina has a 20-6 record this season. I am on Darrin Horn's bandwagon because he is everything UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart and UK President Lee Todd should want in a basketball coach and representative of the elite program in college basketball.......the University of Kentucky.
February 27, 200917 yr I'd support a Darrin Horn trade! I'd love UK to get some WKU left overs! :sssh: Seriously though, I think Strongopenyon described Horn great... But I still wouldn't throw out Gillespie so quickly after two seasons.
February 27, 200917 yr If things aren't a whole lot better this time next year then I'll be concerned.
February 27, 200917 yr There is nothing wrong with BCG that having Downey at point guard wouldn't fix!

Personally, I would hire a coach that can best deliver victories and do so with greatest amount of dignity as possible. When growing up in Kentucky and being rasied in the culture of UK hoops becaomes a prerequisite for this job, you can count me out for any support. If UK were at 23-24 wins right now, most would care less with how he talks at halftime, where he is from, or what kind of basketball is being played.
February 27, 200917 yr Darrin Horn is definitly hotter than Billy G right now. What hes done at South Carolina has been very impressive! But in coaching things can change very quickly. In 2 weeks we maybe singing Billy G's praises. (or not). As far as Darrin Horn goes I believe hes a very impressive coach. The only question mark I would have is recruiting. Simply because he hasn't been at a big program long enough to recruit and get some very good players.

February 27, 200917 yr Author I find it hard to believe that if Horn was 0-2 against Gillispie this thread would've been started. Yes, it would have by me because this is not about UK losing to South Carolina on Wednesday night. I started the thread because of a disdain I have for the current leadership of the University of Kentucky basketball program. It is not personal. It is obvious there are major issues both inside and outside the white lines! A man has been hired that is not up to all facets involved with being the Head Basketball Coach of the University of Kentucky. Billy Clyde could be winning 90% of his games and I would still have the same opinion. There is much, much more to the job than winning or losing against South Carolina on Wednesday night. Oh, by the way, UK should beat South Carolina in basketball and usually does. http://bigbluehistory.net/bb/statistics/SouthCarolina.html
