Okay , Elliott County fans , i said if you won one of these two games this week you would get my respect. Knocking off Ballard and Mason in the same week and doing it pretty handily is a great job. You have my repsect now and i'll be pretty excited to see Elliott play in the State, i'm pretty sure you can go ahead and punch your ticket there.

Thanks for the healthy congrads and kind words, but we still have to play them one by one just like everybody else. Yes, the 16th region is relatively weak, but there are a few teams that are saying give us one more final shot at them. Nothing sure but death and taxes. But we would have to stink the building up pretty bad and they have to play the game of the year and shoot lights out. After watching them (Elliott) the last three games though I must admit they don't look like they are in the stink the building up groove right now. But, it just takes one game for all that to change. Let's play them one by one and see what happens.............................

Coach Renner deserves a lot of credit for coming to Elliot Co. He is a well respected coach with a great tradition and history at Ballard. He knows basketball and had to be aware the deck was stacked against him. But that's what a winner does. I believe he would play them again if time would allow it. I think Coach Renner has his sites on two things and Ballard's final season record is not one of them!

 

He wants the 7th region crown and the state title and putting his team in the environment that he did last night certainly is a great way to prepare to reach those goals.

 

Congrats to Elliott. As I stated in the pregame post, they needed to have the legs for 4 quarters and they obviously did.

Agreed. I have nothing but respect for Ballard. I'm just not sure why people are so quick to rate them above Eastern. Eagles 2-0 head to head. More importantly they beat them on a college court. J-town handled Eastern by pressing them all over the floor. Remains to seen if they can do that on a bigger floor. 7th region rep will be battle tested at Rupp, hopefully not too beaten up:cool:

 

Every body has their own opinion, but I think Eastern is ahead of them in all of the polls.

Great game! Elliott is a good team. Personally, I think T. Knipp is the X-factor- when the shots aren't falling, he is the one who takes it to the whole and gets things started.

 

Elliott does rely on the three too much, especially once they get tired, in the second half. They need to find a way to limit fatigue or at least focus on taking the ball to the hoop.

 

I think Et Faulkner does more penetrating and scoring at the basket than anybody, although they all are pretty good at it. Also Ferguson was 4-7 from three in second half, I don't think fatigue was a problem.

Hats off to Coach Renner and the boys from Ballard. They are and were a Class Act last night on and off the court. From all of us in the "HOOK" we wish you well the rest of the season, and again thank you for participating in such a memorable game for this community.

From the little of Elliott that I have watched (vs. Ballard and 2nd half v. Mason), they go in little stretches where they shoot 3's too quickly. Elliott has an excellent transition offense, but when the other team gets back, at certain times they don't look inside. The encouraging thing was during the two games, T. Knipp would take notice and take it inside, drawing a foul and (seemigly) jump starting Elliott's offense again.

Congrats to Elliot on the win and also congrats to J. Ferguson and E. Faulkner on your great accomplishments. This entire Elliot County team can play, imo they will walk through the 16th Region Tournament along with they will alot of noise in Rupp!, (and I am not talking about the fans....)

 

I am sure that Ballard was amlittle tired from the trip but the way that Eliot play last night I don't think that it would have mattered, a closer score maybe but imo Elliot as clearly the better team lat night.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Ferg is the no doubt the best scorer in the state of Kentucky.

No doubt he is up there. The way he shoots three's is kinda the way Chris Lofton shot them. I don't know if Ferg is as good a scorer as Lofton, but he is definitely in the conversation as far as I'm concerned.

T. Knipp is a great player and has great potential. Better than average outside and inside. If he hits the weight room during the offseason and packs on 20 to 30 lbs of muscle he would be a force to be reckoned with inside over the next 2 years.

J/K. There are some other very good sophomores out there though. Clark Co. has 3 very good ones, especially Stenzel. Tates Creek has 2 really good ones, as does Warren Central.
