So happy to be a part of Saturday night; it was magical. Timmy Knipp played and is starting to play up to his pontential. The boys will be very missed and they couldn't of had went out in better fashion in their last game at the hook. Way to go lions and now the real show begins! :dancingpa

J/K. There are some other very good sophomores out there though. Clark Co. has 3 very good ones, especially Stenzel. Tates Creek has 2 really good ones, as does Warren Central.

I know some posters get carried away, but I do believe Timmy is the best sophmore in the state. I've seen every player you mentioned about play(Zollo, Stenzel, Purvis, Rodgers of Clark; Shanklin and Fant of Warren Central; Fucci and Barksdale of Tates Creek) and I would take Timmy over any of them. If you seen the game aganist Ballard I think you would would probably agree. This class is loaded, though, and you could make an aurgement for several players at the top spot. I agree that T, Kinpp has some of thy most dynamic POTENTIAL in his class. I am not sold on "Best" yet.

At this point I have not seen Shanklin and Fant (I hope to at the Sweet 16). But from the ones I have seen I would take Stenzel over Knipp.

Stenzel is a great player and I dont think you could go wrong with either. Just curious, where would you have T. Knipp in that class?

Top 5 definitly at this point. Its hard to say because most games I have seen Elliott play hes been overshadowed by the seniors.

I think Timmy has the potential to be the best of all the boys to play at EC. Probably not at the high school level but definitely in college. I've watched Timmy a few times over the season and I am very impressed with his outside game and athleticism.

 

IMO he needs to work on some post savvy and aggressiveness on the defensive end; he needs to be a little less lazy on the defensive end as well. He is probably 6'7-6'8 right now, and more than like will have another growth spurt before he graduates, so he may end up being in the 6'10-6'11 range. If he can keep building on his outside game, get a little tougher in the trenches-with emphasis on the defensive end-he could end up being a big D-1 Prospect.

I always catch crap for saying it, but I think Timmy is the most athletically talented player in the 16th region since the Juice or Billy Walker. Greg Fugate was a raw talent, that only played one year. Had he not had his personal problems off the court, and played for more than a year, he'd be playing at a school of big time notoriety IMO. And I'm talking about Georgetown, UConn, Louisville or a UK type school.

 

I don't know if Timmy will end up going somewhere that big but I could see him playing at either a Western or somewhere like Butler where a big of a similair game style like Matt Howard has really impressed. I'm curious to see if he will remain at EC after his brother graduates or if he will move to a bigger school where he could get some big-time looks.

 

Not saying that it is impossible for him to get looks while still at a small school-Ferguson is getting looks from some decent schools and Landon Slone from Paintsville is at UK now. Also, this is not meant to disrespect Coach Mays, but had he played under a coach with a knack for developing talent, he could be what everyone thought Dakotah Euton was going to be during middle school, if not better.

The most overlooked thing I've noticed about Timmy Knipp is how long his arms are. He extends out and plays alot taller than he is. He blocks shots like a 6'10" player.

I've said it before in this thread and I'll say it again. If Timmy hits the wieght room and packs on some pounds he will be a force to be reckoned with. He plays taller than his height down low and has the jump shot of a 2 guard but to play at a large D1 school he's going to have to gain some weight.
