They didn't call us the "Ramblers" for nothing. Raceland, originally, called the Ramblers because they didn't have a home, they had to play all their games on the road. Ramblers latter shortened to the "Rams".

From the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if Morten Anderson's son shows up at your door wanting to transfer and play for the Rams this year. :-)

I have only lived in the area for 6-7 years and in my opinion the reason Raceland seems to acquire a number of transfers, starts in the classroom with the reputation the fine men and women have built by doing an outstanding job teaching our children. Just a quick shout out to the Football staff in the classroom (teachers), keep up the great work.

I am hoping that Aaron Pettrey has some connections to show some lost "Rambling" kicker where to go and kick.

Option V I couldnt have said it any better. Raceland has always stressed education first. The boys that have went on to play college football has had very high GPA's while playing football. We will be losing Aaron on Thursday. He will be going back to school but I can assure you he has always took the time to help those guys on the field everytime he came in. There are some boys that can kick. They just havent said anything to coaches. Several played soccer together when they were young and have worked with Aaron. They just need to speak up.

Doc will be doing his comedy show in new auditorium as a football fundraiser. We will make a fortune.

I agree with you. Raceland has always been known as a good academic school. I think the recent popularity of the football program can be credited to the coaches and the supporters like the ones who post on here, keeping this season preview thread alive since last season ended! It's clear that many people care about the success of the Raceland football program and that's probably half the battle to building and sustaining a top-notch program.

 

I can understand why students from every other area school would transfer to Raceland. The argument could be made that Raceland's academics are better than every other school in the area, except for Russell. The argument could also be made that Raceland's athletics program is better than every other school in the area, except for Ashland and Russell.

 

I just don't understand why students from Russell would transfer there. For that matter, I don't really understand why Raceland students would transfer to Russell, either. To me, it is a lateral move either way.

Russell is a fine school but most do not think it has that small hometown school feel. Most gratuates from Raceland can name each and everyone they graduated with. They are all extremely close. Now days with everything that is wrong with this old world that is a positive aspect sending your child to a small school where individual attention can be given to the child.

Exactly. My wife is a 1991 graduate from Raceland and she knows all the grads from 1986 through 1996 just from being in the same building together. What is there, 450 kids in 7-12 grades? That is not a lot and not too many to remember.
