Holmes 67 Scott 66 (OT)

Featured Replies

I hate to even bring this up but if you have watched Holmes play over the years as much as I think you have, you know that the zebras have always made Holmes teams earn everything they get. They traditionally give them no breaks and I have personally had some of them tell me they never will!! They could stop this team from achieving greatness with a few crucial whistles here and there.

Officials that makes these comments don't need to be officiating because they are there to call it equal, not give other teams the call because they don't like Holmes. Thank goodness 9th region officials don't call the regional tourney.

So you don't think Pittman being out of the game in foul trouble for two quarters during regulation had anything to do with the close game? Or Riley being out for a full quarter had anything to do with it? Please...

Not sure how you can say Holmes overlooked Scott and got outplayed when you weren't at the game. Holmes had a lot of UNFORCED turnovers today which led to Scott staying in the game and almost pulling it out.

Let's also not leave out the FACT that Holmes was playing against a TOP TWENTY team on that team's home court in front of a HUGE crowd and still beat them despite all the adversity.

So, Pittman being in foul trouble, Riley being out a full quarter, and the unforced turnovers didn't have anything to do with Scott playing a great game?

I agree. Without Smith though, Scott probably loses by 10+. He was huge for them. I can't stress enough how impressive he was today.

Most definitely, I spoke with his Dad (Ed) after the game and told him to keep his head up, he gave the team the chance to even be in that spot... Even UK could have won if they didn't miss their last two free-throws today (Stevens)

I hate to say it Eta, but there are only 2 people in the gym who don't care who wins and they happen to be put in the best position to call the game. I know that you are a true Holmes fan, but some of your commentary about how they are treated by officials make it tough for others to sympathize.

Good win by Holmes and I would guess that Henley is glad that this game happened at this time.

Go Bulldogs!

Go back and look at ALL of my posts from previous game threads. You'll find out that I very rarely say anything about the officiating towards Holmes. IMO they actually get away with a lot with Pittman, Riley, and both Johnson Brothers. Scott fans will echo the same sentiments that today's officiating was flat out horrible though.

Again...see the comments from BOTH parties involved about the poorly officiated game today towards BOTH teams.

I don't think Riley has even picked up more than two fouls in any game this year, let alone 3 in the first 16 minutes.

What would everyone say if Elliott beat Scott by one in overtime?

I would be saying congrats to Elliott on beating a quality opponent on the road. The question is what would Elliott do with two starters on the bench with foul trouble like Riley and Pittman were in this game?

BTW, did anyone see the dunk by #22 Willie Slusher of Holmes in the JV game?:eek::eek:

Great game and great atmosphere. Holmes players stepped up and made free throws when it counted and big plays down the stretch. Holmes battled thru some foul trouble but lets give Scott some credit for being aggressive and forcing Holmes into some foul trouble

Very little contact at end of regulation that sent Smith to the line and would have been great to see him knock down both free throws for the upset. I would think he had over 20 points for Scott today.

What would you expect from a Brad Carr coached team but to play hard and give themselves a chance at the end.

Niederegger is really starting to give Scott good minutes at the varsity level.

I think if Elliott had the same result today that they would be hammered by a few on here. No question.

:scared::notworthy::ylsuper: Nasty!!!!!!!!!

Scott is a top 20 team for a reason. If EC were to play Scott AT SCOTT and play two FULL quarters without T. Knipp and another full quarter without Ev. Faulkner and they still won, I doubt very seriously ANYONE, including myself would say anything. I'd personally think more of them being able to win under those circumstances.

I didn't even expect him to dunk it...he threw it down hard with the left though. I think that may have been Willie's first ever dunk in a game. :ylsuper:

I can't make it to any of the the JV games until 1/2 time most of the games due to work, other games,etc.... I have not seen him dunk during a game.

With Willie's size he could make Holmes very tough next year if can continue to improve.
