Why?

Why wouldn't he play the starters when they have a big game with Scott on Saturday? There are things they need to work on and he'll use this game to do that.

He'll likely play them the whole first quarter but sub freely toward the end and second quarter have a lineup that probably consists of Arnold, Housely, Slusher, J. Johnson, and Riley. Third quarter he'll likely start the starting 5 for the first 3 mins or so and then start going to the bench.

I don't see Pittman or Rico playing more than 12 minutes.

.

To be honest he'll get better reps for his player this week in practice than he will against Cooper. Working on new sets against Cooper is not going to give you an indication of how well it will work against Scott.

I'd sit them.

Coach Sullivan graduated from and starred at Holmes. He just finished a highly successful two year stint as the assistant coach at Holmes. He and Coach Henley are friends. Coach Sullivan had much to do with the development of many of Holmes' players. Coach Henley will take great care to avoid a catastrophic blowout. No one can question Holmes' willingness to take on all comers. What is the harm of letting Coach Sullivan take on his old squad?

Why would you put a poll up for this game? Anyways, Cooper has a great coach and in the long run will be a good team because of it. Good luck to both teams. By the way, it was the Principal who made all Cooper teams play varsity schedules, not the AD or coaches.

I say Cooper wins . I look for them to hold the ball and pull the upset. I'll say Cooper 29 Holmes 26.

Because the discussion is about Holmes/Cooper and how playing this game will help them progress in the future. I guess I'm not being clear...what can Cooper take from a game like this to help them against future opponents?

Alright, but the question is still why would you put a poll on here?

That would be nice to see Holmes lose its first game of the year to Cooper, who in turn would get their first NKY victory. Whoever made the schedule is not very smart for the simple fact that they have had a very small chance to win any of the games on their schedule. I would be playing every small county school within 30 miles.

Rule 10

Cooper shold have worked their way up to varsity in basketball and football because both sports will probably combine for under 10 wins.

What D does Holmes play, straight Man to Man?

Yes man to man. Possibly full court run and jump. I have only seen them play twice.

This thread was meant to be to talk about how a first year program like Cooper can benefit in the future from playing a game like this their first year.

It wasn't meant to discuss how bad the score is going to be, how many dunks Holmes is going to have, why EITHER TEAM would schedule a game like this, etc.

Each team has to play this game, so I was more wondering what everyone's thoughts were on how this game will help Cooper progress.

:ohbrother:Other than a lesson in humility for Cooper, I can't think of any possible reason to actually play this game. Cooper will learn nothing except maybe how long 32 minutes can really be and Holmes runs the possibility of injuring a player for no reason. Holmes should show some class and not even dress their top seven players. :ohbrother:

Hmm...maybe some other teams around the state should show class as well and not dress their first seven when they're playing inferior opponents night in and night out...right?

There should be no comments made about Holmes having a lack of class. Henley is one of the classiest coaches around. There are several teams on this year's schedule that Holmes could have beat by 40 or 50 points but Henley did the "classy" thing and pulled the starters a few mins in to the third to keep from embarassing the other team. Holmes biggest margin of victory is 29 points over Tates Creek.

Dead on.
