Barleycorn's coming to Florence

From the NKy.com

The new Barleycorn's will anchor the Pleasant Valley Commons development at U.S. 42 and Pleasant Valley Road in Florence. The 5,400 square-foot restaurant will have a 1,400 square-foot semi-covered outdoor patio.

"Because of the growing population within Boone County, we feel this is the ideal location for our new restaurant," said Ken Heil, who co-owns Barleycorn's with his brother Joe. "We are thrilled to be part of this new, prestigious Hemmer development and look forward to serving our new neighbors in Florence."

Paul Hemmer Cos. broke ground last fall on Pleasant Valley Commons, a $7 million mixed-use retail development that calls for 10,000 square feet of retail and office space adjacent to Barleycorn's. The restaurant is slated to open in late summer.

It will be the fourth Barleycorn's restaurant in Greater Cincinnati. The company has locations in Lakeside Park, Cold Spring and Dayton.

I just hope they have outdoor dining with entertainment like they do in Lakeside Park. This is just great, great news.....

Just to clarify, that is Dayton, OH. That location is off of I-675. The woman and I stuffed our faces there before we went to a concert at Wright State University.

According to the paper, it very much is. Unless there's been a last second change in plans.

Realistically someone should have done this a while ago. Beef O' Brady's is the only place in that vicinity and it is busy by default alone.

I've never eaten at Barleycorn's. Is it worth the trip?

Depends on the trip. Nice enough but nothing outstanding.

No, the beer there is good.

I'm talking about the food. The food leaves some to be desired, IMO.

I have never had the wings, but I've had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and a few other things.

They used to have all you can eat wings for like $10 on Wednesdays, but I've heard that they have made the wings significantly smaller.

I've also heard that they bumped up $1 beers pn Thursday nights to like $1.25 or something. Not a big deal, but still a little disappointing. ;)

Try the pulled pork and saratoga chips. :ylsuper: Unreal. Also get the queso and chips as an appetizer.

Today's paper said they would have a 1400 square foot, partially covered patio. That will be very nice for the Summer months.

Is it the same Barleycorn's that they have in Chicago? One of my all time favorite nights out started at that place!

This is a family owned business out of Northern Ky. The wings are the biggest and best in town. Prices are not cheap, food is good bar food. Not fine dining.

I have had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich as well, and it is very good. My girlfriend thinks they have the best chicken fingers around (and considering that is just about all she gets at any restraunt...that means they must be good lol).

I just ate at Barleycorn's last night. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. It was my first time back since the renovation. The prices have risen, and the food quality has fallen. $10 for 5 little frozen chicken tenders with a few fries. Add a coke, and you're talking $12. I can get the same quality, and quantity of food at Wendy's for half the price. The wife's salad was $10, and the total chicken on it might have added up to two chicken tenders, if you're lucky. Also, the lettuce was all the core iceburg, white and yellow crap. My daughter's grill cheese had one slice of cheese on it. I really wanted some of their wings, but I'm not paying $6 for six wings. I was very disappointed.
