Barleycorn's coming to Florence

Featured Replies

I just ate at Barleycorn's last night. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. It was my first time back since the renovation. The prices have risen, and the food quality has fallen. $10 for 5 little frozen chicken tenders with a few fries. Add a coke, and you're talking $12. I can get the same quality, and quantity of food at Wendy's for half the price. The wife's salad was $10, and the total chicken on it might have added up to two chicken tenders, if you're lucky. Also, the lettuce was all the core iceburg, white and yellow crap. My daughter's grill cheese had one slice of cheese on it. I really wanted some of their wings, but I'm not paying $6 for six wings. I was very disappointed.
For just bar food, the price's sound absurd.

There is nothing worst than going out and getting a horrible meal! Quality and customer service go along way.

I was at the one in Cold Spring saturday and thought the exact same thing and $11.00 for 12 wings...:irked: I will stick with Applebees in the future.

Let me add that I've never had an issue with the service at either Barleycorns in NKY. The service is always great. It's the cost and quality that I was disappointed in.

When I take my family of 6 to Barleycorn's I can't get out of there for less than $70. Applebees is the place for us. With Happy hour, we are in and out for $40-$45 at most. Barleycorns has always been the most expensive restaurant with that type of atmosphere hands down. Food is good but not worth the extra $30.

Applebee's isn't half off anymore on weekends. O'Charley's is where it's at for cheap appetizers now, at least on weekends.

I've always thought Barleycorn's was OK. With the emergence of other local restaurants ie; Buckhead, and Longnecks, we rarely hit Barleycon's anymore. I do have to say, if I had younger kids, Barleycorns in Cold Spring is more kid friendly with an arcade area, and a small indoor bball court.

Friday's also has cheap appetizers after 10 all week long. That used to be our every weekend spot until the little one came along, so now we go there every now and then for dinner, because with the buy-one, get-one free entree coupons going around, you can't beat it.

It is tough to beat the Applebee's happy hour. Cheap beer and cheap appetizers.

I wish there were more Chili's around here. I've always enjoyed their food, and that new trio appetizer they are advertising on TV looks right up my alley.

Thursday nights at Beef O'Bradys offers half price appetizers and $1.25 bottles. :D

It will be interesting to see what competition does to the business up there. I think there is enough to go around.

I agree. I think both places will do fine.

You love that place huh?

There is plenty of business to go around in that area. PLENTY. The Sonic that just opened a few months ago on 42 is their most successful opening ever. The Speedway on the corner is one of their busiest stores around - so much so that they're actually cutting back hours at the Speedway near Ockerman Middle.

Yea there are tons of people in the Union area who don't like driving into Florence to eat.

I felt the same way the last time I took my family. I enjoy the atmosphere and will sometimes go there if a group of parents vote to go there after a basketball game. However, with that said I do not deliberately choose to get up and go there ever. I just think the food is overpriced and not very good. I know restaraunts have a very low profit margin and they gotta do what they gotta do but in these economic times I choose to pass.

My kids used to love that basketball area at the one in Cold Spring. Great idea to get them out of your hair while you enjoy some adult beverages and chat.
