Does U of L have a little brother complex?

Featured Replies

Of course they do. UofL IS the little baby brother to UK basketball.

Deuce don't kill me, I'm only kidding. I don't know to be honest. Why should UofL feel like the little brother? It does seem like they have a bit of a chip on the ole shoulder, but that is what happens when youre gung ho about your team.

 :thumb: I can't take any credit for UK's success being I'm a closet WKU fan.. :sssh:

And for the record before anyone thinks I support 23423 teams... I'm a WKU fan first because it's my alumni and such. But I gotta root and defend UK as well just because I feel like it's my civic duty as a Kentuckian.:D

I don't like UK by any means, but I want them to win every game except when they play UL. Just because I criticize them doesn't mean I root against them. :thumb:

:laugh: Has someone taken over your account? Deuce is that really you?? :D

True, but it does mean we did better than you.

Louisville has experienced a higher high in that timespan, but also lower lows. UL has missed the tourney three times in this decade, and has only twice been past the second round of the tourney. We do usually judge by the peaks though more than the valleys, so UL has in that respect been more successful.

Really? Must be your group of friends or colleagues. I don't follow that aspect and neither does anyone else that I know from WKU. I'll be more then happy to give U of L or UK a good ribbing for beating them... But that's what bragging rights are all about.

Check out Hilltopper Haven and you'll find a whole bunch of people that are that way. But I don't have to search too hard for people I know personally who are that way.

Those fans are ludacris then. I don't see a need to hate on Louisville or Kentucky for their success. For a small college like WKU, they should be proud of what they've accomplished.

I've said this before, I don't really understand the hatred the two programs have for each other. Having lived out of state for awhile I rooted for any team from the state. I was in the USAF from 76-80 and stationed at Langley AFB in Virginia and all I ever heard was how good the ACC was. UK winning it all in 78 and UL in 80 sure made my life much easier. As I suppose our military overseas pretty much cheers for anything with USA on it.

Fair enough... But the championships are 2-2 since 1980, 3-2 UK since 1960. You're really gonna claim championships when your parents were toddlers?

You make solid points Deuce but your assessment is a little skewed.

The 3rd NCAA title is 1978. That is 2 years older than Louisville's first (1980 and your line of Demarcation). So if you include a title from 1980 it stands to reason you would still count one within say five years, let alone 2.

;)

I just look at it as rival fans taking shots at each other's teams when they can. And I see nothing wrong with it, well as long as it doesn't get too drug out. I do believe the whole "lucky" thing has been beat to death. I wouldn't be surprised to see UL make the Final Four and see someone talking about how luck they were.

I vote yes and have an example.

I was at Buffalo Wild Wings for the UK/Vandy game. We got early and of course Cards fans were watching their game with Nova.

Win Louisville held on to win some guy started a C-A-R-D-S chant. He did it EXACTLY like UK does C-A-T-S, Cats cats cats. All of the cards fans started getting real fired up and were basically doing the chant to the UK fans.

Well, first of all, concerning tonight's games, a UK fan brought UofL into the discussion...

And the reason there are no UK fans in the UL thread? Louisville won, convincingly. They have nothing to say. :thumb:

Actually I was in there.

Thats the way I feel about UL...

I don't think so.

I do know that the state of KY has the 2 most annoying and irrational fanbases in college basketball though. I swear, talking basketball with most UK and UL fans makes me want to off myself.

I vote yes and have an example.

I'm confused. The CARDS chant is one that's done at every game I've ever been to.
