I don't like UK by any means, but I want them to win every game except when they play UL. Just because I criticize them doesn't mean I root against them. :thumb:

I'd like to add a note here. I think it is REALLY difficult to analyze what the Louisville-Kentucky rivalry means to a Louisville fan unless you either grew up or have lived in Jefferson County for a long time. Plain and simple, the rivalry is just different here. People outside the city might not have a Louisville fan living within 100 miles. In Louisville, you might have fans of your archrival living on either side of you. There is a lot of good-natured and not-so-good-natured taunting on both sides. I've been part of it since I was born.

 

I just think people who aren't Louisvillians (whether UK fans or UofL fans) don't see the rivalry in the same way we do. When I was growing up, I really felt that you could tell a lot about a kid by whether he was a Louisville fan or a Kentucky fan. This wasn't of course an absolute rule, but it worked. I'll have to think about what sort of things were in my head when I was in sixth grade and decided this was true and get back to you.

Tell your son he's missing out. Some of the most beautiful women in the world are in Lexington, KY.

I think that UK fans want U of L fans to have an inferiority complex when it comes to UK basketball...Truth be told, that's not the case. Louisville has made a BIG BIG name for itself in the history books, and is now a major player in one of the most dominant conferences of all time. UK, while still having some tremendous historical accolades, seems to be behind Louisville in regards to the round ball.

Good post. I have learned a lot about Louisville fans in my short time living here. Living in Lexington for awhile also adds a lot to my view on things.
