Best Sophmores in KY?

Hmm...wasn't trying to tell you what your opinion should be. Was just stating you've only seen the kid 3 times. He may not have impressed you when you seen him...doesn't really matter to be honest. What matters is the scouts who have seen him the past two years in high school and aau ball were impressed with him. No disrespect meant here, but an opinion from someone on BGP isn't going to keep him from getting a scholarship.

As far as Thelen, he is too one dimensional. Good around the rim but definetly way to slow defensively, has no outside shot, and lacks ball handling skills. Those are all tools you need to have if you want to play at the next level these days unless you're just that dominant down low, which I don't see him being. He benefits A LOT form having Isler get double teamed down low and getting wide open lay ups.

I agree on the Thelen assessment. If he develops an outside shot and learns that being aggressive isnt a bad thing he'll be fine. But I think he was going to get there before the injury. But we won't know now.

As far as Arnold, that's great that schools are looking at him. As I said, I don't see a D1 caliber talent, possibly if he progresses in the next year or so, which I'm sure he will. Don't take offense to this ETA, but the same can be said for YOUR opinions :). You seem to think the more you push your opinions on other people the more it makes you right, which is very innaccurate. No matter what, youre still just another poster on BGP.:D It's all good.

Thelen's biggest problem is not being aggressive enough, like you said. Too often he isn't physical enough which leads him to not getting rebounds that he should or scoring at will against smaller defenders.

As for Arnold, I never said my opinions were right. I just state things how I see them. Again, some people respect me for it, others dislike me for it. Could care less honestly, and you know that. ;)

I would have to put Trey Williams on the list. The kid has two more years to put on 30-40pounds if he hit's the weights. He's 6'6, shoot the three, inside/outside, can do any kind of dunk you want and can dribble. I would say he's problaly the best athlete. If he would step on the football field he would be D-1 in football/basketball and maybe track! Just needs a guard to go with him and Mike Hampton which is a sophmore too.

What school is he from? Does he play AAU ball? I seem to remember someone mentioning his name over the summer.

Trey Williams- Greenup County

You have pretty good list going, but if you're looking for kids with excellent potential to play beyond high school I have to add Robbie Barber and Tanner Shotwell at Scott County. Barber was a starter at Rose Hill as a freshman who put up some strong numbers for the Royals last season. Shotwell played at LCA as a freshman last year. I can’t imagine why they would want to transfer to a loaded SC team, and be stuck behind four or five older D1 recruits, but they are definitely improving in SC’s system. They could easily be starters on most varsity teams across the state. I’ve seen Barber play about three JV games against good competition this season. He had a double-double in every one. He’s a pure shooter with good elevation and a high release. He doesn’t force bad shots and connects on about 50% of his 3pt attempts. He also seems to enjoy crashing the boards and rebounding. I think Shotwell might be sitting due to eligibility issues, but he has insane hops and is a strong rebounder. I’ve kept my eye on both since grade school. You can count on them making big contributions at SC their Jr and Sr seasons.

What about Tanner Napier from Lafayette???? He is averaging 16 ppg., has 5 dunks so far this season, & shoots the 3 - pointer very well....

He looked like he could develop in to a very nice player down the road the one time I saw him. Needs to add quite a bit of strength, but was a good looking player with a nice touch on his jumper...

Trey Williams is not the best athlethe in the sophmore class, T. Knipp is way more athletic than him.

After the way Arnold played today against Largo, he is definetly one of the top soph's in KY. He seems to be playing very well lately and finally maturing.

Random, but thanks. :thumb:

King brothers at Deming??????!!!!! IMO

Have seen all mentioned play at one time or another and for my money I would go with Timmy Knipp hands down. If his body continues to develop there will be no stopping him. Excellent athlete.

My vote goes to Timmy Knipp. When he comes to play he is hard to stop.
