The only teams ranked in the top 20 in nky are Holmes, Boone, and Highlands...none of the players mentioned are from any of those three schools except Arnold. I didn't meant to imply that they wouldn't play at all, they just wouldn't get as much playing time as Arnold is getting, which again goes back to him being the better player. None of those kids listed match up well with Arnold because at 6'6, he isn't a true post man. Arnold is the most versatile soph in nky. I think we can atleast agree on that, hopefully.

Of course Henley wouldn't mind having others on his team for depth...who wouldn't? I ask you this though...how many other teams in nky would Arnold NOT start for if he weren't at Holmes? The list is probably going to be very slim to none.

 

 

 

 

That's great that those other kids played AAU at a national level..it will only make NKY basketball better. My point was though, how many of those kids were playing up TWO age levels and still averaging double figures and being one of the better players on the team?

 

Arnold played with the 16u Queen City Prophets this past summer with Rico, JJ, and Pittman. Pittman was the only one who averaged more PPG than Arnold.

 

Please don't think I'm trying to criticize the other kids, I'm just stating facts. I do some work on the side for a local Rivals site and every scout that you talk to echoes the same about Arnold and considers him the best prospect out of NKY.

I asked him and yes Donnie's dad is Donnie also and he did go to Holmes.

After seeing the Stauffer kid from Ryle tonight, no way he's on the same level as Arnold. Arnold got to the rim at will against him and got him in foul trouble as he was too slow to guard him, and defensively Stauffer got completely shut down. Finished with just 4 points and I believe two of those came on free throws. I only remember him having one field goal.

Believe he had 8 or 10, due to the other big man being doubled whenever he touched the ball. Solid performance.

It's not all about scoring points. Just looking at the two, Arnold looks much more polished than Stauffer. Better handling the ball, quicker, better defender, more versatile, and shows much better composure.

 

Stauffer is a nice player but if he's one of the tops in nky, our soph class up here is WAY down.

I disagree with this statement completely. I think AAU ball is where kids raise their talent level the most and work on their individual game by play bigger and better competition while being in good physical condition for the next upcoming season. Anyone agree?:laugh:

A basketball player is made during the summer. So it's either AAU or the playground. No one is at the playground anymore so AAU it is.

I agree:thumb: AAU will only burn a kid out if the parent let's it get out of control. It has become a good tool to develop high school players and get them some exsposure during the summer. It also keeps a lot of kids off the street and in the gym. That could never be a bad thing.

I strongly agree! AAU allows the kids that suffer minimal playing time on their high school teams due to seniority the ability to play against some top notch talent and improve their game. If you get with the right coach and the right talent it's enjoyable and not a "nescessary evil". Some parents may think so, because of the commitment it requires, but we love it. In order to be the best, you have to go the extra mile, and continue to improve your game. Where else can you get that after the school season ends? Again, the key is a good AAU coach and team players, not a bunch of ball hogging egoes on a team! Ask King James what he thinks of AAU?
