Gotta rank Holmes #1 now, IMO. But it's a long season, folks...and Scott County is only going to get better as their "imports" develop/mesh and Bryan Station will remember that they can beat Holmes.

 

And then there's a few other teams such as Jeffersontown, Elliott County, Manual, etc., etc. who will make their voices heard before all is said and done!

 

And...maybe someone who nobody sees coming yet... who saw Lafayette over Male a few years back?

I know there are a lot of 8th graders playing high school basketball this year, but none of them are playing for teams the caliber of Holmes. And while I think McClendon is a good player, I think the rating of No. 7 for the class of 2013 in KY is way too high. He may develop into that in the next year or two, but let's slow down thinking he will make any impact at Holmes this year. If it happens, that will not be a good thing for Holmes (something else would have to cause this -- injury, etc.).

 

Go back and re read my posts on the first page. You'll see it was me who said that I didn't think he was ready to contribute this year and wasn't physical or big enough yet for varsity ball. It was baseballguy who said he would be Holmes "secret weapon" come March.

You dont have to worry about a rematch, Scott County wont get out of the 11th region.

Congrats to the Dawgs. They are fun to watch and a lot of credit has to go to Coach Henley for instilling the discipline and teamwork concepts into a very talented and hard-working group of young men. They have earned the #1 ranking in KY and best wishes to them as they pursue a state championship together. Maybe they could lay an egg just one night to give the rest of our 9th region teams, especially Boone, some hope??? Pretty please?

You may be right, but Franklin Co. has a nice Team as well. They are now 7-0 with wins against the likes of Mason Co. and Butler. I believe their headed to New York to play in a tournament there next.

FC will see what they are made of in NY. Also when they play Holmes. What I hear they will not be at full strength against Holmes as Deron Hicks and Oakly Watkins have an opportunity to play in the KY/TN all star football game. In any event just playing Holmes should help them prepare for post season.

Honestly I'd be somewhat surprised if Holmes goes undefeated in 9th region play. But then again, they've already had their one let down of the season, so you might be right.

At times, yes they look "scary good." BUT, they still have a lot of work to do. They are vulnerable in several areas but their talent has been able to overcome that early on. It will be interesting to see how they progress throughout the season.

Baseballguy was the one who said he was their secret weapon...not me. I personally don't think he'd be ready this year to contribute. He isn't big or strong enough yet, but like I said, the talent is definetly there.

 

As far as the Summit View teams, I remember them very well. My little cousin Jared was the starting PG for them. With him and Christian in the starting lineup together, they never lost a game and between the two, averaged around 35-40 ppg combined.

 

I'd expect Henley to give Mcclendon some experience late in the year just to get his feet wet. He did the same with Duran Jefferson his 8th grade year, and IMO Mcclendon will turn out to be better than Jefferson..
