Holmes 74 Bryan Station 56

I think he is much more aggressive than Miller ever was. I like the energy that Pittman plays with, which Miller did not bring all the time in HS.

I also think he will be a better shooter than Miller.

I agree, and he still has another year. This team will be even better once Feb. rolls around. The scary thing is they are the best team in the state and they don't have a lot of varsity experience like teams in the past. Holmes only returned 2 starters. [iMO] This only the beginning of whats to come from this young team.

Agree with both parts. The only weaknesses I see right now are their ability to handle pressure and their level of intensity. They seem to lack intensity once they get up by a lot and when other teams pressure them, they commit silly turnovers. On the other hand, they showed tonight that they can flip a switch and be scary good. They need to become more consistent.

Like you said though, they are actually a fairly young team so this should improve as the season progresses.

IMO their next tough match up won't come until they play Largo, Md. They are a spitting image of Holmes. (Athletic, length, and height)

Pittman is unreal. I thought this team was a year away, but I was wrong. AND I love how Henley is preparing this team for March, getting them comfortable with competeing in Lexington. Henley is brilliant. He has changed the culture for the better in Holmes basketball. Thanks coach for what you do for these young men.

In the thread where it ask, who is the most under rated player on your team? I was so tempted to put Dave Henlry for the Bulldogs. I know he is not a player and I didn't want to get blasted, but that is one cool cat on the sideline for the dogs.

It's already been said several times, I will agree 100 percent. Holmes is the hands down #1 team in the state right now.

Of course, we all know that can change from game to game.

Congrats to Holmes on the big win :thumb:

Spindoc, correct me if I'm wrong, but there may be a "marked gap" between Holmes and the next tier of teams in the state. Now the pressure is on Holmes!!!!!!

You may be right, but Franklin Co. has a nice Team as well. They are now 7-0 with wins against the likes of Mason Co. and Butler. I believe their headed to New York to play in a tournament there next.

We'll save that discussion for another thread, but having seen both FC and MC....I'll stand by my statement...:sssh:;)

Wow, another possible top 10 matchup for Holmes. What an amazing early schedule for Holmes. Looks like the Dogs will play anybody, anywhere, anytime. And I mean anytime literally.

Nah, I still think Scott Co. is under the most pressure. Holmes is still a year away.:sssh:

I agree with you right here. Coming into the season most people had SC as a double figure favorite over the rest of Kentucky. [iMO] Now that teams are showing that they will be able to compete with SC I think it put more pressure on them to perform and live up to there preseason title as Kings of the Bluegrass. With that said I still think we will see Holmes and SC at Rupp.

Will be expected for sure, but this is Kentucky HSB, anything can happen.

I would of known what you meant, and understood. I think most of us alums realize what he's been able to do with these kids, not only on the court, but in other aspects of life. There were some not so good things that happend a few years back, and from what I've been told, that was the turning point. These kids respect him and they prove it by doing whats asked of them. Some may say, that's what their suposed to do, but like you said earlier, most don't realize the culture change. Holmes has had some pretty good Coaches in the past, Reynolds Flynn, and Mike Fylnn come to mind. But in all the years I've been watching Holmes, I've never seen Teams as diciplined as Coach Henley's. Hope he plans on being a Bulldog for years to come.
