December 16, 200817 yr … "stress reaction." What the hell is that? And why is this year the first year it's ever been used so widely? Does "stress fracture" not cut it anymore? Why is it a "reaction" now? Why has this term come from out of nowhere? Who is the arbiter who decides these things? Did Dr. James Andrews, the guru of sports medicine, decide out of the blue "we need a new term for these injuries so that we can get back to confusing the sports-watching public the way we used to."

Actually, I think you are right Dr. Sticky. These "new" medical terms pop up all the time. Besides, the people on BGP can be much sillier than that.
