What is the all-time record between Mercer and Garrard? I would imagine that Mercer would have a lead in this as well.

 

I'm at work and will have to check when I get home. I think Garrard actually has a lead, but only by a game or two.

Well it really depends on what time of the year it's played. Post-season Clark vs Mason. Anytime, any place, any sport, Clark vs Montgomery. Some of the GRC vs Mason games have been classics. And if you add in the importance of them and some of the great players(Lofton, Grutza, Litzinger, Miller, Knowles,Jones) it really makes this a special rivalry. If you play in the 10th you know that eventually your trip to Rupp is gonna go through Clark, Mason, or if your lucky both.

I think this is developing into the big rivalry in the 10th. I think a series has to be pretty even or at least both teams win some games, especially big games for it to be a rivalry. I wouldn't put Montgomery/Mason in the rivalry category because Montgomery has seldom beat Mason other than a couple of times in Coach Rison's heyday.

Indians have not won many but it is always a close game (except last years regional chapionship). BUT when Montgomery County "stole" the regional tourney last year, it became a heated topic. Plus I think now they have lost it two years in row. I have heard the new gym at NKU is going to host the 9th and 10th regionals this year.

The arena detracts a little from the in-game atmosphere but it's still an incredible rivalry game. I miss Knights Hall at Bellarmine.

Like a couple people have said, Bellevue/Dayton is one of the biggest and most emotional. As far as NKY goes, CovCath/Highlands and Bellevue/Dayton are widely considered 1 and 1A as far as rivaries.

 

Frankly, with these schools it doesn't matter if they are playing football, hoops, marbles, or pinochle, they don't wanna lose. They just don't like each other....
