Just depends. My dad's surgery is Wednesday.

I'm confident Highlands takes care of business this week in practice and gets the job done. One of my old football coaches use to tell us (You play like you practice and it's the little things that count.) Go get it fellas!!!!:thumb:

Highlands wins this one about like they did last year. I see a score of 28-7 or 35-14. CC is a good football team but will not beat Highlands unless Highlands preforms like they did against Bryan Station.

I think that HHS just needed a wake-up call. This years HHS reminded me of the #1 seeds in the NCAA tourney who play that bad first game because they are overconfident and then put it together after that. I would not predict a let down by HHS. Which means, if HHS loses, CC played better. No excuses.

True, very true, (but Bryan Station still impressed me.)

I hope to see a good game and hopefully Christain County keeps it close enough that they think they can win it in the end!

Why, HHS, of course!

 

Saw some tape of CC last night. As EasyPro mentioned, CC has a very big offensive line. Not the most mobile linemen, but not too bad at getting down field. No. 23 has very nice speed and runs hard. Birds better do a much better job at wrapping when they tackle this week, or this young man will get a lot of yards after first contact. QB has a decent arm and runs well. I think it was No. 9 who also impressed me when he got his hands on the ball. All in all, a very good Offense that can move the ball. Based on the last couple of Highlands games, I wouldn't be surprised to see CC try to pound it between the tackles. From the one game I watched, that isn't CC's offense, but CC may try to exploit our run defense up the gut. Time to step up Birds and shut that run down. They also got the ball outside very well and tried to get 23 in one on one situations.

 

Their defense is also very good. No.'s 55 and 15 on the D line really impressed me. 55, the nose man, has decent size and exploded off the ball. Great motor. Will chase the ball down from side line to side line. 15 is not as big weight wise. Has nice height. Runs very well and will make tackles also from side line to side line. All the D linemen rush the ball very well. Linebackers also move well and tackle hard. DBs all have very nice speed and cover well. Our O will have to be at the top of its game if we expect to continue our scoring trend.

 

Kicker doesn't reach the endzone but isn't bad. They tried the pooch kick a couple of times. Kickoff team covers the ball very well and has a lot of speed on it. Their kick off team is dangerous and if we don't do a better job covering kickoffs, they could take it to the house. We've given up to many yards the last couple of weeks on kickoff returns, so its time boys to buckle down and not let them get returns outide the 25. Punter looked average. Not great, but not bad. They did block a PAT and a punt (I think) so we better take our protection responsibilities seriously.

 

All in all, a very nice team with very nice speed in all facets of the game other than the O line (more the bulldozer types there). This should be a very good game. Birds have the advantage of playing in the Big Game last year and shouldn't have butterflys. First time in a long time for CC. My guess is that they will bring a lot of fans. We really need the Bird fans (not just the parents and loyal fans) to show up at this one and cheer the Birds to victory. If the Birds bring their A game and don't make mistakes, we should bring home No. 18. CC reminds me of Bryan Station and if we don't come ready to play, we'll find ourselves in another Station like game. Go Birds!

As Henry pointed out, Weinel suffered a knee injury early in the season. He was cleared to play last week and actually did some kicking in warm ups against Whitley, which was great to see. Adam is a great kid with a whole lot of promise and potential. He has a great leg which will only get stronger in the year's to come. He's only a sophomore. Not sure what his leg strength is quite yet in returning from his injury.
