That helped too, but combine that with having your safety shadow somebody and you get the outcome of last week's game.

Exactly, T's safety will not be spying.

It will be interesting to see if T uses their "Boone County Killer" defense. That is usually a 6-3 with 2 corners and no safety. When they line-up in this defense it is very, very difficult or next to impossible to get a blocker on the middle linebacker. There might be one reason T does not use this defense and that is because SK does actually use some spread formations.

This is off subject but reading this thread made me realize how impressive Clark County's Championship in 1991 was. They beat both X and T to win it all! WOW, imagine a team that was able to lace them up and whoop those two!

I read in the paper this morning that Coach Marksberry believes Miles Simpson (only a Junior) is the best player in the state. This confirms what many have been saying on here this week.

"Miles Simpson, in my opinion, is the best football player in the state," Marksberry said. "There have been comments made about Shaun and his comparisons to Shaun, but in my opinion he reminds me of (former Ohio State and NFL star) Robert Smith. He has that good forward lean and gets his knees high and up and is so powerful and fast.

"I know Trinity has people that can catch him just like Male had people that could catch him, but nobody has caught him yet."

Article from the Cincinnati Enquirer:

"Some of them got their first taste of varsity competition against Trinity, the state's premier program. They were freshmen. Simon Kenton was a No. 4 seed that snuck into the playoffs because Conner had upset Boone County. Trinity was Trinity.

The Shamrocks beat the Pioneers 52-0 in the first round of the postseason.

"I got in the last play of the game," said Craig Schadler, now a senior captain. "They told me to go in and I just thought, 'Wow, these guys are big.' I was shaky."

"I feel like we've earned it this time, being on the same field as them," said senior captain Patrick Bustle. "It's not like we went 6-4, barely made the playoffs and then got to play the magical Trinity. It's not like that anymore. We've earned this. We're more prepared and we're a better football team."

Seeing as how that is exactly what they did, went 6-4 and barely made the playoffs. Once again as said in last week's thread, the difference being that they didn't have to play Trinity until now whereas the other teams had to play them first. They have earned to be on this field just like the other teams earned to make the playoffs and go up against Trinity.

Through 14 games, Simon Kenton has only thrown for 909 yards, an average of 65 yards a game. Do the SK supporters feel they will be successful Saturday with such an anemic pass offense? Is the running game so strong, like Ryle's purportedly was 2 years ago, that SK hasn't had the need to pass?

They have gotten by without having to pass. I bet if you take away screens that have went for big plays then the passing numbers dwindle even more. One thing is certain, this will be the best defense that they have played all year and in order to win they will have to throw the ball with some success.

As I recall Ryle threw long on their first play, had a guy open but the pass was not good. Aything can happen....

True. Ryle had one first down until the 4th quarter.

Someone in another thread put it in this perspective.

Simon Kenton is playing a school with a much larger enrollment. For SK to be on the same level student population wise you would have to combine their school with Highlands and NewCath to get comparable numbers.

With that type of advantage it really makes you wonder why they would not win and what makes the previous ones so special.

Shows how big of an upset it would be if Simon Kenton wins. Also, shows how much the odds are stacked against them.

I hope like heck SK can knock off Trinity but having Simpson or not, SK better be ready to ramp it up three-fold for 4 quarters in all facets of the game Friday or it will get ugly. If SK goes down to Louisville just happy to be there, they will get hammered. They have surprised me now the last few weeks. I sure would love to be surprised one more time!

I agree but I have a feeling Trinity will not be at this game on Friday. I'm thinking they will make it to the stadium about 5ish on Saturday.:lol::lol:

Good luck Trinity. Play like you did this past Friday and 4-Peat will be on this years poster. Congrats to SK for making this far, hope you enjoy your stay in Louisville. I predict this game will be like the Trinity vs Ryle a few years ago.
