A very good ballgame. A tough loss for Raceland. I really enjoyed meeting sidelinedoc, mcpapa and his lovely family, and Bluto. I also enjoyed all the great food. I don't remember if the score was 20-10, or 20-17 at the time, but Raceland had the ball 4th and inches around their thirty or so, and I thought they should have gone for the 1st down. A tough call to make either way. Good luck to LCA the rest of the way.

Easy to say on a message board well after the fact, but LRCW can vouch for me, I also said beforehand that if you can't get 6 inches for a first down you don't deserve to win. Top that off with a 20yd punt and that's the ball game.

I got to see this one in person and it turned out to be quite a game. I'm sorry Raceland couldn't pull it out, but LCA (and more specifically their QB) was just too good.

 

The first 2 and a half quarters, LCA seemed content to go for short passes and try for yards after catch. It didn't work a whole lot. They went nowhere while Raceland had an efficient enough offense to keep possession of the ball most of the time. When LCA opened it up and started going downfield after falling behind 20-3, the game completely changed. Raceland got a rush on the LCA QB occasionally, but he was always too fast to be brought down. He would simply elude the rush and either scramble for decent yardage or make big plays downfield.

 

I would complain and say Raceland played it too conservative on offense after getting the 17 point lead as there seemed to be a few series in a row where their offense went nowhere, but I was on here before the game saying Raceland should keep it on the ground and pound away at LCA the entire time. I was wrong on that one. LCA's defense and line held their own in the 2nd half. They stepped up when it counted most.

 

All in all, it was a great game. I'm sorry to see Raceland's season end this way, but they have a lot to be proud of considering what they accomplished this year. LCA is a good team with a great QB!

A heartbreaking loss for the Rams in this one, who had control at 20-3. LCA seemed to scrap the game plan, start going downfield a lot, and the QB simply made a bunch of incredible plays. Threw for 362 yards, according to the post-game show.

 

Denton had a great game for the Rams; the sweep seemed to be working very well. LCA finally strung it out for a loss in the middle of the 3rd quarter and the Rams never went back to it.

 

A great game in a great atmosphere. Great food; and I sat with some Russell and Boyd County guys who were pulling for the Rams.

 

Caught up with Ram prior to the game; he was kind enough to introduce me to Painter, Spindoc (who as has already been noted was in some kind of Dermonti Dawson haze but was cordial nonetheless) and LRCW. I didn't know what to expect from the stories, but LR was, well, svelte. As a precaution, however, I did keep my hands and feet away from his funnel cake.

 

I'll have to do it again sometime.:thumb:
