Raceland did a dynamite job of shutting down LCA's Hayden: 44 yards rushing. Hats off to the Rams.

 

I disagree. Raceland has a tough run defense but Hayden is averaging almost 5 yards per carry against them. LCA had to come from behind in both games. That means passing the football. The LCA head coach, the offensive co-ordinator, and the QB coach all 3 have run-and-shoot backgrounds. That is a take what they give you philosophy.

 

In essense I am saying the coaches held Hayden in check with limited carries.

I have had some time to think about the game. From what I have seen the last two years. You could'nt give me Five Haydens for One of Whitt or One of that hartley kid, and#18 thats where the heart of LCA's is.

HCT, I have TREMENDOUS respect for you, and all of Ramland. So I'm not challenging you at all in your opinion - I am simply trying to understand that opinion.

I don't think I'm disagreeing with you too much. I agree that the LCA coaches will take what the opponents give.

 

But in this case, my observation is that Raceland decided to "take" on Hayden, thereby "giving" the passing game. They were saying "if you want to beat us, it will have to be by someone other than Hayden."

 

LCA's answer was "Fine, we'll use the passing game".

 

However, to arrive at that point, Raceland had to stop Hayden; which I am acknowledging that Raceland did well.

No, I am not by no means saying Hayden is not part of the heart of the team. I am saying I wouldn't take five Hayden for one Witt. That kid is who beat Raceland Friday night. He is hands down the best QB I have seen all year. I am not trying to say the others are not good players. Just what I have seen with my own eyes. He killed us. The broken plays is what he is good at. We could not get to him. We stopped the run and we stayed up with the receivers. But you cant stay with the receivers on a broken play, and Witt running like he got his head cut off. Like I said the broken plays killed us. Plus he will only get better and that my friend is whats scary.

I want to aplogize for getting off track on the subject of what someone claims to have heard.

 

Now, as for this game and these two teams imo the two couldn't be more evenly matched. Last season's playoff game/district title went to LCA by 2 points. This years regular season game/district title went to Raceland by 2 points. This playoff/ regional championship game went to LCA by 7 points. That is 3 games between the two team that were decided by a grand total margin of 11 points, I call that about as even as then two can be. LCA was the better team on Friday night and deserved the win. Good luck the the LCA Eagles/ (fighting Bluto's ) vs. Hazard this Friday.

 

On a side note......I wanteds to say that of the LCA fans that I have had pm exchanges with I haver heard nothing but respect and class. I have also had some e-mail exchanfge with Coach Rains and found the same, the man is not only a great football coach but he is a very nice man and a class act. I cannot say that about all schools fans.

 

Bluto, I want to thank you for the phone call and your concern on Friday. Also for your words about the fans/atmosphere at Raceland. I of course am prejudice but I agree with your friend / LCA official that told you that a football game at Raceland was what what h.s. football is supposed to be, should you ever get the chance to catch a game at Ashland's Putnam Stadium I believe that you will find the same type atmosphere, fans and class that you commented on at Raceland. Those two (Raceland and Ashland) are imo the two best places/atmospheres for a h.s. football game in our area, JMO. I hopefully will get to meet you and some other LCA fans sometime along with other BGP'rs like McPapa, Watusi, STRIKE3, Graybeard and Painter and others that I am no doubt forgetting to mention. Good luck to you and LCA the rest of the way out.

When the #1 team in the state gets beat it is an upset!

 

 

A upset is when a team is a huge underdog. This game was a toss up at best. LCA lost by 2 in the first game they played in a horribly officiated game the first time. So its not a upset by any means. I'm not trying to discredit Raceland by any means because they had a great season. The Herald Leader had Beechwood #1 and LCA #2.

Were both of the games played @ Raceland this year. And if so was the officiating any better the second game?
