Your Favorite High School Basketball Coach

Featured Replies

Ron Dawn while at St. Henry in the 80's and NCC in the 90's/00'. Just a great coach to play against, always respectful and a truly nice person.

Ken Shields- Dean of NKY like Malachi says. One of the most genuine guys probably ever to coach in NKY.

Mike Swauger-Bellevue Great guy always intense and loved to stomp those penny loafers. LOL

Not my favorite coach, but I am sure they would be if they coached at Scott. But both Code's are very good coaches.

Reynolds Flynn of Covington Holmes was my favorite coach.

Don Daniels antics at Rowan County were always fun to watch

Who is it? It doesnt matter whether you played for them or not. Alot of coaches are fun to watch. Mine would have to be Bobby Hall who coached Fleming County and Maysville

Don't forget he had a stint at Bracken county as well.

Im going to be biased and go ahead with coach Carr from Scott. He is definately fun to watch and play for. He gets into the game no matter who the opponent is and knows the game. He is a GREAT coach!!!!

Bobby Keith of Clay Co.

I can remember the first time I ever met Coach Keith. I was about 10 years old and I was at the state tournament with my Dad. For some reason, we went to Coach Keith's room and ordered a pizza. He called the pizza place and I can remember him saying, "I guess cut into 8 slices, I don't think we can eat 12."

That has stuck in my head all this time.

I like Allen Feldhaus, Jr. at Madison Central. Also, Shane Butry at Madison Southern.

 Sounds like something he would say. I still see and talk to him every State Tourney. Great person and to me one of the all time best coaches.

Stan Hardin - Fairdale

Mouse Payne- Male

Dale Mabry - PRP

are some good ones who haven't been mentioned.

This is one I would have to agree with:thumb:

I think Danny Adams at Magoffin County is the best coach I've ever seen.

I'll also put in a vote for Randy McCoy (Elkhorn City) and Bill Mike Runyon (Paintsville).

Randy McCoy is a good one for sure. He sure could work the sidelines.

Bobby Keith - Clay County, Dave Fraley -Powell, Pulaski, Billy Mike Runyan - Paintsville, Bob Creech- Wolfe, James T. Turner- Breathitt. These guys are all eastern ky legends, some bigger than others. You could that a list of thier ism's they said in thier prime and make one funny book. Oh yeah help me out... Guy.....-GRC
