Wade Upchurch was as crazy as they get while down at Monticello. Not only was he crazy but he was also a very good coach. He took Monticello (a very small school in Wayne Co.) to the state tourney in 1987.

Bobby Keith and Dave Fraley come to mind based on their ability to win at all cost and their antics kept the game enjoyable. From working referees to sitting in the stands with the crowd these two were the court jesters of the mountains and great coaches. Bob Creech and guy Strong could also be added to this group.

:thumb: Cov Cath was a little before my time, however I did see a ton of NKU games in the 70's.

Rosco Denny is always entertaining - weather head coach or assistant.

I've always believed that coach by coach, Kentucky High School basketball has the best in the country. It always seems that when our teams leave the state, Kentucky always fares great against the other state's elites regardless of talent differences.

Chad Simms at Pendleton County

The Horse Allen Feldhaus and The Raven Fred Hester, agruably the best to roam the sidelines at the same time on a given team.

I kept the book when I was in HS.

 

We were playing Mason County at our place.

 

Allen Feldhaus was upset with a call. He passed us at the scorer's table, yelling at the officials.

 

He passed OUR COACH who was standing in front of OUR BENCH while yelling at the officials and went down in front of a couple of players.

 

He was closer to the water cooler ON OUR BENCH than he was to his assistant coaches on HIS BENCH!

 

No technical was assessed.

 

I was amazed. And it was hilarious.

My favorite high school Basketball coach would have to be Randy Ward. He always has good teams playing great defense. Some didn't like his slow down type of basketball but he won alot because of it.

Coach Felhaus again had every official intimidated the moment the officials walked out of the dressing room during warmups. Someone in that gym would not survive if Big Coach was still on the sidelines.
