January 6, 201016 yr As soon as my brothers son burns the sports Insanity workout my brother and I will put it in our list of cardio vids we are doing.
January 6, 201016 yr ^ I would love to try out Insanity. I just don't have enough room at my house. Trust me, it requires very little room. I move the coffee table in my living room and workout right on the carpet. My workout space is about 7 ft x 7 ft and it's plenty of space.

January 6, 201016 yr I've never heard of it. What exactly is it? It just recently came out. Go to youtube and search for it. I think there are some trailers on there for it. 20/20, is insanity something you can do on top of weight training?

I know a lot of people that, after having completed a round of P90X and a round of Insanity, create a hybrid of the two. There are a couple hybrid programs out there that look pretty good. Like I said, Insanity is super-intense cardio with all resistance being body-weight based. It is definitely great for toning up and improving overall cardiovascular strength/endurance and speed. If you're looking to add a significant amount of muscle mass, I would recommend either P90X or a P90X/Insanity hybrid.

I use to do quite a bit of HIIT cardio but since we had our second kid I can't stay at the gym long enough to do the cardio so I have really let that slack. What I am interested in is continuing the lifting in the morning and possibly doing Insanity at night. I just wasn't sure how much resistance work there was with Insanity and it was a wise choice to combine it with lifting.

With Insanity, one day a week, you'll do a workout called Cardio Power and Resistance. It involves lots of plyo squats, pushups, etc...I doubt that will interfere with any of your lifting. Obviously, you know your own body best. At the first hint of injury, take a break. Insanity definitely has its perks. For those that are interested, here are a few: 1. I mentioned this previously, but one of the best things about Insanity is that the workouts aren't terribly long. (Woodsrider: You might be interested in that since on many days, you'll be doing double workouts.). From start to finish (warm-up, stretch, workout, stretch) you're looking at an average of 40 minutes. 2. You make the most of each 40 minute workout because there is even potential to burn some major calories during the 8 minute warm-ups. Trust me: Most workouts aren't nearly as brutal as Insanity's warm-ups. 3. During a typical 40 minute workout, you can easily burn 800+ calories. 4. The variety of exercises keeps it interesting. There are a lot of exercises I had never seen, nor heard about before Insanity. 5. Every two weeks, you take the Insanity Fit Test. In addition to seeing the changes the intense workouts make to your body, you can track your cardiovascular/muscular fitness easily over the course of the program. I look forward to Fit Tests to see how much I've improved! 6. No special equipment needed! Just you, lots of water, and a towel to wipe off the sweat you're sure to be dripping with. 7. There are a bunch of "regular" people that workout right along with you in the videos. These workouts aren't easy, so it's nice to see other people struggle through some of the same moves. Plus, I like to compare my form and stamina to some of the people on the tv screen. 8. Shaun T, the guy behind Insanity, is extremely motivating. Seems he is always giving a form cue or a little added encouragement at exactly the time that I need them. Any more questions, let me know!

January 6, 201016 yr Just got it, it's INSANE. But I love it. The Cardio Plyo almost made me cry. The Cardio Power & Resistence wasn't as bad. Can't tell you anymore because this is only day #3 for me. Like 20/20 said, Shaun T is really motivating at nearly the right time.
January 7, 201016 yr I am going to buy p90x here in a minute. I've been watching videos on YouTube and reading the responses you guys (and girls) have provided on BGP, which I trust a bit more, and now I am convinced. Hopefully, after 90 days I am "ripped." Really - I am not overweight or heavy. I can "in shape," as I can play sports and run and that stuff. I am just not "toned."

I'm a coach for the company that sells P90x, Insanity, etc...so the link is straight from the source!! Plus, it doesn't hurt that I can get paid a little if you buy from my page. :sssh: Just sayin'.
