July 21, 200917 yr I absolutely love the Recovery Drink. Yes it is very expensive, but I don't use it after Yoga or Kenpo, and I ration it based on how hard I have worked. It is probably purely psychological, but I crave it after my workouts. I love Plyo and I also really like Core. I absolutely loathe Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. That workout kills me. I've been doing this program for almost 15 months now and I am still not tired of it. I did this one last night. Once I get through the first half of it, I am good to go. Does anyone use push up bars? This is my second full cycle of P90X and I have used them this time. You only do about half the amount of push-ups, but it makes a workout brutal. I am not a big fan of Kenpo or Cardio X. I do not get a whole lot out of them. What is everyone's favorite corny Tony Horton quote? "Ab Ripper X. I hate it; but I love it."
July 21, 200917 yr My husband uses the push up bars and swears by them--I don't like them, though. He has some old wrist issues, though, and he says it helps with that. I don't mind Kenpo, in fact I think it helps to stretch me out after Legs and Back. It feels like it elongates my muscles that are all fatigued and bunched up. I have a ton of "Tonyisms"--we say them all the time at home! Some of my favorites are: "You're a board, board -- but don't get bored! Eheheh. REPEAT! THAT! SEQUENCE!" "No Krispy Kremes in the house!" "You can do anything for 30 seconds!" "Drink your water, people." "Don't be doggin it. This is P90x my brutha!" "Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was your body..."
July 21, 200917 yr To get through workouts faster, sometimes by friend and I will skip through the breaks or fast forward through some down times. To get going we always say, "I'm done chatting. 5-4. 3-2."
July 21, 200917 yr I do the same thing. I can get through most workouts now in about 45 minutes or less.

July 21, 200917 yr Nice tip...The hour commitment every nearly every day is going to be tough to keep. For starters of those new to working out, I do not recommend skipping breaks, warm-ups, etc. The hour + commitment is difficult often times. I will say all the workouts go pretty fast, imo and for as corny as he is, Tony is pretty good at keeping you entertained. Even the Yoga which is 93 minutes goes fast.
July 21, 200917 yr Nice tip...The hour commitment every nearly every day is going to be tough to keep. Just be careful doing that at first. A lot of the tips he gives during those down times will help you, and keep you from getting injured. Also, your body probably needs that extra time to recover at the beginning. I really only started skipping through after I had done the program for about 6 months. And yes, the commitment is the hardest part of the program, IMO.

I didn't realize Yoga was 93 minutes. My first yoga session is today, so I guess I will plan accordingly for the extra thirty minutes.

It is an awesome workout and something I look forward to. My flexibility is 10X better than what it once was. I attribute it mainly to Yoga. Some quotes for today: "I recommend.... foot spray." "I got shot, in the buttocks."

My flexibility is 10X better than what it once was. I attribute it mainly to Yoga. The first time I did the yoga I did it in a garage on a hot day. I have done many type of physical exercise in my life but I have NEVER sweat so much as I did that day. I was absolutely floored at just how intense and beneficial I have found the yoga to be. I don't really know exactly what my plan of action will be when I've finished my 90 days but I defiantly plan to incorporate the yoga as a lifetime activity. I now do the yoga in air conditioning.
July 22, 200917 yr Just some comments I have on the workouts Chest and Back- I kind of wonder why they elected to make this the first workout in the regular system, especially if your not in great shape to begin with it is incredibly intimidating. So many push-ups and pull ups I think I was maxing as few as 3 or 4 in my second go arounds on the first day. Plyo- As I said before I've really adapted to this workout. While I can't keep up with the fast Jump knee tucks I feel I can do everything else pretty well. Arms and Shoulders- Being I'm on my recovery week after the three weeks of the other workouts I'm having a little trouble remembering all that is involved on this one. I know chair dips and arm circles have become much much easier for me. Yoga- I'm still struggling with the later parts of the moving section particularly the movements involving and after warrior 3. I simply can not keep my leg up in the air that whole time and constantly fall out of it. I also have trouble with the part of the ab section where you twist and hold your legs to the side while laying down. Legs and back- I don't do to well with these exercises at all really. I really struggle with my balance on all of the one legged squat moves, I think it is preventing me from going as low as I'm supposed to. Also the wall squats are still really tough for me, I can't do the single legged wall squats at the moment. Kenpo- I think this is the easiest of the workouts. With that said I definatley feel like I can throw a better punch than before I started this workout. I don't have any problems now but the first couple times I absolutley could not get the punch sequences right for the jab/cross/hook/uppercut I was a mess at the beginning. Chest Tricept Shoulders- I get killed on the very first pushup excercise, those slow pushup just drain me from the get go. Because of this I feel I get less out of the chest than I do from the other workout, I also think the shoulders aren't worked as well on this workout either but I do think the tricept part of this one is superior. Back and Bicept- SO MANY CURLS. I actually love this one and find it very doable the pump you get out of this workout is truly extreme. Core Synegistics- As I said earlier I personally find this to be one of the toughest to get through. By the time I've got to the Prison pushups I'm wiped out. So far I've only done this one three times (number 4 is tomorrow). The plank run, sphinx pushups, bow to boat, and superman banana just kill me. Ab ripper- I don't think I was nearly in good enough shape to begin the ab ripper. I probably didn't do a single move in a quality manner when I started. I still have issues with fifer scissors and I find the pulse ups very difficult to do with my hands on the floor (I will often put my hands behind my head). But on all the other excercises I've improved a great deal.
July 22, 200917 yr After I completed a week and a half (and did really good keeping up with it) I badly sprained my ankle at work. I have an MRI today and I am really disappointed that I had to stop doing it. I really did feel like I had more energy doing it and can't wait to get healed up and start again. Especially after I've been sitting down for a week with my ankle.

I simply can not keep my leg up in the air that whole time and constantly fall out of it. I also have trouble with the part of the ab section where you twist and hold your legs to the side while laying down. Warrior 3 and the subsequent moves are brutal. Half moon and twisted half moon are something I will never be able to perfect. Do you use a Yoga block? I have a phone book I use in place of a Yoga block and it really helps.
July 22, 200917 yr The yoga block definitely helps. I don't use it much anymore, but my husband definitely does. RRR, I really enjoyed reading your perspective on the dvd's. After your 90 days are up, you could just go into round 2 if you wanted to. That is what I did and I am now going through the program for the 6th time. I have made unbelievable gains but it is still very difficult and my muscles still get fatigued and sore. I do not even remotely feel like I have hit a plateau. Sometimes I think I might like to do something else, but I'm afraid to lost what I've gained from P90X! Also, I'm not nearly as disciplined as I was the first two rounds. I aim to work out at least 4 times a week.
