July 22, 200917 yr I had been doing it for 3 weeks back in April and it was amazing how quick it worked. I went from weighing 154 to 168 in 3 weeks. I was also taking Mass XXX and a vitamin supplement as well. I hurt my back though, and have just this week got around to getting back into it. I've been doing a modified version though. On Cardio days, instead of doing Plyo, Yoga, & Kenpo I am just running. It's just so much more convienent for me to jump on the treadmill and run 3-4 miles than to spend 90 minutes in front of a DVD.
July 23, 200917 yr The yoga block definitely helps. I don't use it much anymore, but my husband definitely does. RRR, I really enjoyed reading your perspective on the dvd's. After your 90 days are up, you could just go into round 2 if you wanted to. That is what I did and I am now going through the program for the 6th time. I have made unbelievable gains but it is still very difficult and my muscles still get fatigued and sore. I do not even remotely feel like I have hit a plateau. Sometimes I think I might like to do something else, but I'm afraid to lost what I've gained from P90X! Also, I'm not nearly as disciplined as I was the first two rounds. I aim to work out at least 4 times a week. So far I haven't used any yoga blocks I might try bugatti's phonebook idea. I will be going on a trip to Miami in later Sept and I'll definatley continue the series up to that point. After which I may continue or play with it a little adding more of the yoga and core exercises which I feel have been of substancial benefit. I'm waiting to hear how the Yoga went for Mr Hindsight, it sure was an eyeopener for me.
July 23, 200917 yr A question for some of you guys/gals, if you don't mind. How old are you all? I've been thinking about doing this thing, but it's seems rather brutal. I'm reasonably strong with weights, but no doubt my cardio level is bad right now. Being in my mid-40's and given that I am about as limber as a California redwood, I worried this program might actually kill me. Actually, I'll be getting an operation on my elbow in the next few weeks and will have to wait to recover from that also, but I guess I'm just wondering how realistic this program is for a middle-aged guy.

(Common mistake!) Yoga was tough...the moving postures got really tough towards middle of the video. I enjoyed the balance postures at the end though. I definitely have lots of room to improve and am eager to see how I progress through the program. I really need to invest in the yoga blocks, or as suggested, use a couple phonebooks. July 23, 200917 yr So today was my first day doing Legs and Back since I started back up, and I completely forgot how much I loathe it. My legs are absolute jello right now...

It is an extremely challenging program. With that said, the program does not involve any heavy weightlifting, you use dumbbells or resistance bands and pushing/pulling your own weight. Do not get discouraged by what some of the people are able to do in the video. Just do what you can, record your results, and see how much you are able to improve. Most exercises involve modified moves that one of the instructors will do if you are not fully able to do them. If anything, you need to improve your flexibility which this will do.
July 23, 200917 yr Using a Yoga block (huge dictionary in my case) helps tremendously. I am more flexible now than I have ever been. I have never bee able to sit on the floor with both feet together and hold on to my feet stretching forward. I can now essentially grasp my fingers together at my heels and hold it for a minute or longer.

When I started this, I was 9 months postpartum with my 5th child. It is very realistic for a middle aged guy, you just have to "modify, modify, modify..." (Tony says that all the time in the videos!)

I'm so proud of myself because I can do a backbend again (its been years!) and I can also hold crane for most of the 60 seconds with both feet off the ground. Yoga has done wonders for me and I also believe it keeps one from getting injured in this strenuous program.

July 27, 200917 yr http://www.extremely-fit.com/fitness-tips/2009/05/p90x-worksheets/ Here a source for anyone doing P90x. I have found that excel worksheet that has been made is priceless. After looking through what the excel file has to offer, I feel guilty that he is offering it free. Look around and tell me what you think. :thumb:
July 27, 200917 yr I got about 8 weeks in and messed my back up from an old sports injury. I coach football so I don't really have time now. I'm going to bulk up this fall/winter and then try to run. After all that I'm going to target around next Feb-Aprl or March-May to do the P90X again. I've done a lot of workouts but this one is as unique as I've done. It definatly made me feel better.

If anything, you need to improve your flexibility which this will do.I'll second the highlighted. I myself am 28 so I'm not going to pretend to assume what it would be like for a mid 40 body, however I will say that I believe a good quarter of the people in the workout videos are in your age group, and I believe Tony (the instructor) says he is 45 in the video, now all those people are in excellent shape. I would tell anyone to go ahead and do it, there really is very little you can't modify through and even if you have to cut out parts, the rest of it will still do you good. Oh and sorry Ms Hindsight about the gender mistake.
July 27, 200917 yr I second to take the plunge. Do what you can do and you will find yourself getting better a couple weeks in. It's an outstanding program. I will say if there is any chance you have a heart condition then I probably wouldn't do it. You have to be in decent shape at the worst to start I think. The toughest part for me is finding that much time in the day to workout with work, 2 little ones, life, coaching etc. I scheduled the best time of year for me and actually did the two a day workouts! I got up early and sometimes it was 10:00 at night by the time I could do the 2nd one. Easy to find excuses you just have to make the time.
July 27, 200917 yr Any ideas of ways to change up the program to work for someone with a badly sprained ankle? I started and then got hurt (doing something else) and I would really like to start up again.
