April 14, 200917 yr Author crossfit.com It gives you a workout of the day and you do that workout. Its a 3 day on, 1 day off thing. Relatively fast all inclusive workouts for the most part. No 2 days are the same really and thats why I like it. I can tell a huge difference, in my legs, core, back and cardio
July 19, 200917 yr I just got the system in the mail today. I was anxious to get started so I quickly read through the fitness guide, watched the "bring it now" dvd, and started with day one "core synergistics". My cardio level right now is pretty good, but I really need to tone up a bit and add to my overall strength. Depending on your fitness goals, you can choose between three workout plans. The P90X Lean program seems to be the best option for what I want to achieve. So...hopefully, I will be able to stay committed and see some results quickly. I haven't really looked over the diet part yet. That may be the toughest part since I think I may have fast food addiction! :sssh: As for my thoughts after completing the first workout...well, it was tough. My fear is that the "core synergistics" is probably one of the easier workouts, so I am a little worried about what is in store for me down the road.
July 19, 200917 yr Wait till you do Plyo, its a beast... Yeah, so I've heard. I think I'm up to the challenge though.

Plyometrics is my favorite despite being difficult. I think Chest/Back is the most difficult.
July 19, 200917 yr Author How you likeing it??? Its good, always something different and if you dont like the workout of the day, you can sub in something else, pretty intense and I dont have to do it in my living room, I enjoy my gym
July 20, 200917 yr It is, but is one of the better ones. Plyometrics is my favorite despite being difficult. I think Chest/Back is the most difficult. Actually, surprisingly, Plyo isn't part of of the P90X lean plan, which is the program I am following. I think they switched it with the CardioX instead because it isn't quite as intense. I decided to go with Plyometrics today instead because I've heard such GREAT things about it!! It definitely kicked my butt, however it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be. In future sessions, I anticipate being able to increase my intensity level quite a bit, but for the first time doing it, I felt pretty good with it. Most of all, I dread the sessions focusing on pull-ups because at this point in the game, I can't even do one!!:sssh: A question for all of the P90X veterans: How important is the recovery drink? I've never really followed an intense workout plan before, so the protein shakes, recovery drinks, etc. are pretty foreign to me. What would you recommend for a rookie?

I've never really followed an intense workout plan before, so the protein shakes, recovery drinks, etc. are pretty foreign to me. What would you recommend for a rookie? HAHA this is sooo true about the plyo it's intense. Just alot of balance and lean muscle groups that you don't typically use. I'm probably in better shape than about 99% of the people I know and it whooped my butt. I did it on a sunday after a night of drinking and my friends were about 4 weeks into the program and wanted to see what I thought of it. I knew the system worked and was good but kinda wanted to show them I could handle it. Needless to say my legs and mid section(which are my weakest) were sore for about 5-6 days after that.:puke:
July 20, 200917 yr I'm currently in my seventh week. I still can't do a pull up on my own however I definalty feel progress in my back from doing the chair pullup versions. I'm a big guy especially in the lower body and that particular excercise is tough for my build. I personally find Core synergistics to be the most difficult to get through. Plyo seems overwhelming at first but the body (or at least my body) seems to adapt to it very well, now I get through it with a little energy to burn. The P90X recovery drink taste very good and I got it with my system to begin with. I found it to be tasty and desireable, but it only lasted about a month. I found it to be incredibly expensive (like $45) when I looked to reorder some so instead I bought a $20 cheap brand at Kroger, and it tasted horrible. Since that bottle ran out I have not gotten any more. I can not say with any certianty that those drinks were or were not a benefit. Now that I've been working without them I still see results so I don't plan on getting anymore.
July 21, 200917 yr I absolutely love the Recovery Drink. Yes it is very expensive, but I don't use it after Yoga or Kenpo, and I ration it based on how hard I have worked. It is probably purely psychological, but I crave it after my workouts. I love Plyo and I also really like Core. I absolutely loathe Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. That workout kills me. I've been doing this program for almost 15 months now and I am still not tired of it.
