Highlands 28 Bryan Station 22

Featured Replies

Congrats to Highlands on a tough, hard-fought win. You clearly earned it tonight.

If you've got nothing going on tomorrow and you feel like sitting in mid 40's temperature with 20,000 screaming high school football fans...come to Nippert tomorrow night and support us (as a fellow public school) against those Purple Pansies from Elder. Our boys will need all the help and support we can get.

That is certainly a game I am intersted in. Go Cards!

That's every NKY HS put together on a Friday night

Highlands had 3-4 total fumbles. Guidulgi had 2 including one in the end zone which Collinsworth thankfully jumped on for the first HHS TD. Conner fumbled on the game winning drive and #55 saw it and gobbled it up. I am almost certain he fumbled in the first half as well but it was on the exchange. As I said in my first post, HHS did everything possible to give this one away.

And still managed to beat a very fine football team in the process using a last minute come from behind touchdown drive. Which is pretty telling.

No one has asked it, so I will.

Highlands scores the touchdown and is up 5. Why did Mueller kick it instead of going for two? Is that what the little card that all coaches carry says?

I would guess that BS certainly had the athletes to take it back to the house on the kickoff.

And folks, if you noted the time of the quoted post, that was NOT me erroneously posting under Henry's name this time. Seems the post game celebration at our house must have extended into the wee hours of this morning and Henry was still up and posting at 3:21. I guess I shouldn't go wake Henry up and ask her to fix me breakfast.:D

To the game: Birds played sloppy. I'd probably agree with another poster that stated it was the sloppiest game he'd seen the Birds play.

Won't get into particulars, but for whatever reason or reasons, we did almost every thing we could to lose this game: except reach down inside and do what was necessary to win the game in the last minute. I really liked seeing that and not just because of the win. Good job boys. Let's shake off this one and show the state that we ARE as good as a lot of people thought we were.

Hat's off to the Station. They played a whale of a game. I think they only had the one turnover early (interception) and some off side penalties on the last minute Birds drive (which were critical) although being good hosts, we reciprocated with our own penalty negating their penalty yardage. The Defenders played very, very well and their coaches put together an outstanding game plan offensively. Very well done coaches and players. :thumb:

Big debate at the house afterwards. I was of the group that said Dale made the right call. There were of course others that disagreed.

I assume Dale felt that if you go for two and don't make it, one play beats you. Whereas if you go for 1 and make it to go up by 6, it takes 2 big plays to beat you: the touch down and then a pressure packed extra point. Keep in mind that Station's extra point kicker had missed on his first extra point kick attempt of the night.

Sorry, it may be posted in here, but how did Conner look?

Pretty strong. It was a good test of the leg. Bet he's feeling sore this morning.

Can you teach that line to Henry? :D

And don't forget that there were a few other Highlands fans (Henry and Birdsfan to mention two) that were saying the same things I was about this game.

LUCK. Says it best. Tyler Grubbs falls on a fumble to keep the Birds drive alive under 1 minute left. Amongst all of the critical penalties and the 5 or 6 fumbles the Birds somehow survive. Hats off to the Defender players, they played their hearts out.

Again, Dale did say Station would be the best team they had seen in KY up until now and looks like he was right.

Yeah, but he'd say the same thing about Scott. Who can tell when he means it.:p;)

First congrats to the HHS on the win.....

Now I know I will get flogged for typing this by the HHS fans, but I still can't understand why HHS doesn't have a Internet Radio feed for their games? It just doesn't make sense that with such an outstanding football program that HHS has, they can't find somehow to bring the games to the masses who want to now how HHS is doing but can't attend the games!

Flogged? Are you nuts? I couldn't agree more. I'd rather see that than the big screen. :thumb:

I'm still trying to figure out how BS didn't win their district.

We sat in the BS section and told the fans in front of us the same thing. To be honest, I'd have left there feeling the same if the Birds hadn't pulled that game out. Bryan Station deserved that win as much as the Birds did and I honestly would have been happy for them had the final score been reversed.

Wow I wish I could have been at this game. I almost went and then backed out. How stupid of me!!!
