Highlands 28 Bryan Station 22

Featured Replies

Can you teach that line to Henry? :D

And don't forget that there were a few other Highlands fans (Henry and Birdsfan to mention two) that were saying the same things I was about this game.

See. Every now and then I get one right.

You're kidding right? The game was placed on a kid that hasn't seen a football field in 10 weeks and it showed.

Just want to add to the compliments aimed towards the Defenders...

  • Best Coached Team the 'Birds have faced all year!
The coaches were obviously prepared for the game. The kick-offs and and punts were placed perfectly. Offense took advantage of some mometary weaknesses on our Defense. The BS Defense had sucess the "majority" of the evening stopping the 'Birds big plays. Most importantly, the staff had the Defenders up the entire game.

  • BS fans...
Not many in attendance but very supportive of their squad throughout the contest. I think BS will be a legit 6A contender in the near future. Too much talent to settle for anything less.

I was quite impressed with the numbers and the energy of the Station fans. It's probably one of the largest visiting turnouts we've had all year -- and that includes local teams. They were loud too. You could really hear them over where we were, and that's unusual. Granted, they had more reason to cheer than most of our visitors have this year; but they were a really strong presence last night.

In the November 14th Cincinnati Enquirer article, Coach Mueller states, "We know that it's a one-and-out from here on in - we're 0-0 right now." The Birds are lucky they are not 0-1 since they had 5 fumbles, the most in any playoff game that I've seen.

3 fumbles/ lost 2. the last came on the final drive which fortunatley for highlands #55 scooped up to save the season.

There were five fumbled balls. We also had several bobbled kick receptions and a botched punt. It was like our guys' hands were made of glass. So it was an all-around off night for the Birds. Thankfully, they sucked it up and got the job done when they had to.

I wonder if Papa Collinsworth was having flashbacks of Super Bowl XVI and the infamous "Drive." How appropriate that Austin made that winning catch in the final seconds. It must've been a little moment of payback for the tall guy. ;)

Highlands had 3-4 total fumbles. Guidulgi had 2 including one in the end zone which Collinsworth thankfully jumped on for the first HHS TD. Conner fumbled on the game winning drive and #55 saw it and gobbled it up. I am almost certain he fumbled in the first half as well but it was on the exchange. As I said in my first post, HHS did everything possible to give this one away.

Would have liked to have seen 42 get a few touches on O last night. Conner showed some flashes, but I find it hard to believe he is in he kind of shape you need to be in to play the entire game.

You read my mind... 23's tongue was hanging out the whole second half!

Let's also point out that #55 got the critical personal foul penalty after the Dempsey interception to take it from 2nd and Goal at the 1 yd. line to 2nd and goal at the 16 yd. line. A missed FG was the result of the drive. That was right after HHS' statement long drive to open the 2nd half. If they punch it in from the 1 yd. line to go up 28-12, that could have been a killer.

He drove #32 to the ground right at the feet of the White Hat. Not knowing when the whistle blew, hard to say if it was late or not. Regardless, it was WAAAAAY AWAY from the play. If it was even close, #55 will not enjoy films.

I commented on this in one of my earlier post. You are correct, but fact is, if he doesn't recover the fumble on Highlands last drive, with BS's ground game, game over.

Still shaking my head wondering how that team ended up as a 4th seed.

What does that tell you about #1, 2 and 3?

I'm still not convinced Highlands gets the 1st down on 4th & whatever on the final drive in goal line offense. The Birds better be thankful that BS jumped offsides or we might be talking about BS today. Yeah sure we got them to jump the very next play again but was negated the next play after that with a pitiful attempt to get a block downfield for a holding penalty. Highlands would of scored the next play but had to rely on a 3rd & 13 post corner route to win the game. As much as the the players who stepped up to help win the game also had a huge impact i trying to give this one away. It went both ways people.

It tells me nothing!!! Bryan Station loses a 3-way 2nd place coin flip and have to settle for traveling to Ft Thomas to play Highlands. How fair is that. Sure Johnson Central is a solid football team but where was that JC/BS game played. In Paintsville right!!!! Get that team out of Painstville and we will see how tough they really are. It's like when we use to go play Bell County and use to deal with all the home field perks. No Travel, Fans and some other unorthodox tactics. We shall see in a couple of weeks because Highlands will make the trip to Paintsville.

Anyone who manned-up against #32-BS would play through the whistle and then some. HHS-#55 got rid of any Goo-Goo and played on. His fumble recovery was timely... he saved the drive and the game! Ifs, ands, or buts HHS played till the end of game. Both teams showed strong wills to win.:flame:

Tells me Woodford and JC should be glad they had BS in Sept instead of Oct or one of those teams may have been play at Highlands last night.

We know some of you guys think mountain football is not for real and we are a bunch of dumb hillbillys and get some "advantage" by hosting a game. Keep this kind of posts coming, it will make great wall paper in the JC dressing room. We are more concerned about todays game, both are great teams. Ignore the comments and take care of the business at hand is how us "dumb hillbillys" win football games.
