Highlands 28 Bryan Station 22

Featured Replies

The Birds got the scare of their lives tonight. BS played extremely well on both sides of the ball. The Birds only got in rhythm a couple of drives all night.

Too many fumbles, 3 lost, and two huge unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. The first one took them from a 1st and goal at the 1 to the 16! The second one gave BS an additional 15 yards right after one of the lost fumbles with about 6 minutes left and BS went on to score the go ahead field goal on that drive. I would hate to be either of those players during films or practice this week.

The Birds Defense had trouble with the small scat back but did a great job containing the big fullback that is headed D1.

Birds got a huge helping hand when BS jumped offsides twice on the final drive. One of them came with 4th and 2 from around the BS 25 Huge 1st down!

The refs were absolutely terrible. Both teams have reasons to gripe and BS probably more than the Birds.

This game should have been played 2 weeks from now. Bryan Station is too good a team to be out this early! Keep your heads up Defenders, you are the real deal!

To say Bryan Station is huge is a gross understatement!!! That's the largest collective high school team I've seen on this side of the river. The running backs...#3 and 24 took a lot of pitches around the end and picked up huge chunks of yardage....very similar to Colerain. The bubble screen to #4 was also effective...Bryan Station's skill guys were fast and very hard to bring down on the initial hit. This game was a nail-biter right to the very end...Highland's last drive was aided immensely by a couple of off-side penalties by Station. Highlands could move the ball effectively, but fumbles and untimely penalties stalled a couple drives. Good to see Josh Conner carry most of the load and regain some of his 2007 form.

That was a great game!!!!!!!!

So many things to talk about....

How about that interception by #63 (Laber??), that was a great takeaway at the perfect time.

I think Dempsey got that Int.

Adam Dempsey with the pick!

Sloppiest game I ever witnessed Highlands play. They did everything possible to give the game away but BS couldn't do enough to take it.

Austin Collinsworth did so much to help Highlands win this game, a key first down on a reverse in the first half and of course the game winning TD.

BS pound for pound at every position was bigger than Highlands and had some excellent speed at WR. Sure looked like the Bryan Station of the old 4AAAA days, not sure how they got to 5.

Good game to both teams.

I think Dempsey got that Int.

The play by play man couldn't make up his mind.

There weren't a ton of break-away plays for HHS that stand out to me except for the interception for Dempsey which was awesome.

Wish Crawford got more reps.

Connor looked good and was solid, but still has some way to go. He does still have the moves but didn't show the speed he did before. Hopefully he'll shake the dust off and get better each week.

Rosenhagen played a fantastic game!

Collinsworth, as usual a solid game. Aside from the winning pass, he caught one and took a shot in the back that could have tipped a 1200 pound cow. It turned his body into a C shape the wrong way, but he held on.

Birds had way too many mental mistakes tonight. I hope that was all and they got them all out of their systems. Fumbles, temper-fueled penalties, and defense getting sucked in for the run only to be outran around the corners by BS's superior speed. They had a kid on there that was almost as fast as the kid from Colerain.

I am not joking, my chest was burning at the end of the game and Mr. Jameson is now helping to soothe me. Everyone in the stands was freaking out. I thought for sure that pass would be picked off but there was no one there and Collinsworth hauled it in and tip-toed inside the pile-on on his way out of bounds.

The play by play man couldn't make up his mind.

Play by play man had a rough night all around.

I'm still trying to figure out how BS didn't win their district.

The PA announcer rarely ever gets anything right. It's incredible to me that he can't even get the home team players names correct.

Don't pick on him. That guy has been up there for like a hundred years. He does the best he can. He is a nice man.

BS exposed many of Highlands' weaknesses tonight. I know that they won't come out that flat next week because they'll be staying home for the rest of the season if they do. This uppercut under the chin is what we needed. I did say in the prediction thread that I hoped to see a close game, me and my Big mouth! I'll never say that again. I promise. I agree with a previous post that these refs were absolutely terrible. They missed so many holds and a critical offensive pass interference call that should have went against BS but instead it resulted in a score and the lead for them. I am okay with losing to a team straight up, but when the refs start deciding the tempo and mood of the game, the game becomes unpure. Tonight I feel like that happened.

Let them play!

Let them play!

Let them Play!

I'm still trying to figure out how BS didn't win their district.

I spoke with one of the BS coaches as the game was about to end and asked him the same question...he told me his team didn't know how to win the close games and when they did win, didn't know how to maintain a winning attitude. They had all the talent in the world, but lacked the discipline needed to be a contender.

Congrats to HH on a great win...

I would like to say what an incredible job the BS coaching staff has did in turning the program around.
