November 10, 200817 yr I love watching this guy play. Wish the Reds would have tryed for him. At least he won't be killing the NL.
November 10, 200817 yr That sucks. He should be in a Reds uniform. I agree. I am interested to see who Oakland had to part with. I hope that Jockety doesn't fall into that ole Cincy trap and believe status quo plus a couple of maybes added is the answer. It is not.:irked:
November 10, 200817 yr Since when does Oakland do trades like this? Are they going to try to make a run this year?
November 10, 200817 yr ^ Who do you suggest getting. There isn't much out there this year. Depending on what had to be given up, Holliday would have been nice. That's why I said it will be interesting to see how the A's swung the deal. When you say there isn't much out there, I am guessing you are refering to FAs. I agree with that. If the Reds do stand pat, they have to many holes to contend.
November 10, 200817 yr I wouldn't be surprised to see Oakland turn around and trade him again. Now it's being reported that Huston Street, Greg Smith and Carlos Gonzalez are in the deal. It wouldn't be a shock if Beane flipped Holliday to someone else ... Oakland restocked their farm system and young talent base with some of their trades last year. Gonzalez and Smith were part of the Haren deal, I believe. Or Beane may play Holliday, then trade him at the deadline or cash in the two first-round draft picks at the end of next season.
November 10, 200817 yr Bad trade for Holliday. Oakland is a pitchers ball park. Carlos Gonzalez has a lot of upside and Street is young and has had success in the bigs.
November 11, 200817 yr The A's, seem to do a good job, with a lot of unknown players. If they keep Holliday, he will help offensively but like mentioned before, they need Pitching.

November 11, 200817 yr They have had great pitching, but always seem to trade it away..Agreed and seems they get a position player here, pitcher there and take 2 steps forward/3 steps back.
