November 11, 200817 yr Why the confidence in Hanigan? I don't see him being any better than what they had. If Gonzo is healthy he is the SS, just due to finances. Who do you have in the OF?? Hanigan has hit .294 lifetime in the Minors, with a pretty solid .324 last season in AAA. I think he will do a fine job, especially considering the lack of talent of the Free Agent Catchers this season. If Gonzo plays SS, and they settle on him, then why even worry about next year? If they are fielding positions "just due to finances" then obviously they aren't worried about winning. In the outfield I would have Votto, Bruce, and Dickerson/Hairston.

Just because Cincy is small market is not a reason to be happy with the medicrity that shrouds this team.

And that's fine, but you then support a lineup that quite frankly wouldn't succeed in 09. The thread is about Matt Holliday, and I would have loved to have seen him in LF for the Reds. The A's have made a killing off of trading their closers in the past. Their philosophy is one that I wish the Reds would take. Instead, we're stuck with Francisco Cordero and his $10+ million dollar per year deal.

Don't know much about the other guys involved. You still did not answer my question. Who would you, as the Reds' GM, give up? And remember, the Rockies would have to accept your offer over what the A's gave up.
