How about the QB? Also what kind of year is Mr. Cobble having? He was a force last year.

 

QB's gone as well, along with their WR's. The QB really didn't impress me last year, he froced alot of plays and I felt they were much better when they stuck to the ground game with the occasional deep pass to stretch the defense.

 

Cobble has been Cobble from all indications, they went through a stretch without LB Ridge Wilson when they lost to Western.

 

I expect Highlands to sut down the Central offense and get enough balance and production to score enough points to win on offense.

I really don't see why a lot of people think this will be such a close game. I don't expect a blow out, but I do expect Highlands to win comfortably by atleast 3 td's. Central lost a lot from last year and Highlands returns a lot. I wouldn't use how Central played X as an indication that this might be a close game since Highlands and X like to do different things offensively.

 

As far as the talent debate from a previous post, there's no way Central has the same OVERALL talent that Highlands does. They might have a few players who are more talented but overall, player for player, Highlands has way more talent.

FORT THOMAS - Highlands football blitzed a high-quality 6A team in record fashion Friday night.

 

The record being a 99-yard touchdown pass from Tony Guidugli to Nick Buten in the third quarter of a 46-0 win over Madison Central. Madison, a Class 6A team, was 7-1 and ranked fourth in the state poll.

 

The 99-yard pass was the 10th in state history and second in Highlands lore following one from Jared Lorenzen to Josh Hassan in 1999. Under statistical rules, a play from scrimmage cannot be 100 yards or more.

 

Guidugli was 8-of-14 for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Brandon Roller had the other TD catch.

 

Buten had two catches for 110 yards. Clint Crawford had 63 yards rushing and Austin Collinsworth 60 as Highlands outgained Madison 402-235.

 

Highlands hosts 3A Central (6-2) this Friday. Since losing to Colerain in Week 2, the Bluebirds have won seven straight by an average score of 55-10.

This will be another great test for Highlands O line. Central's D is very, very good, with 3 D-1 players. I felt this game last year really help prepare the Birds for the State championship run because it was in my opinion the first shut down D the Birds had faced up until then. While this year we've already faced a shut down D (Colerain) and a couple of other nice ones, this game will help our O line considerably. If we can consistently move the ball on Central, I'll feel really, really good about our chances of winning state. Gut check time for the O line. :thumb:

Just FYI- Central outgained X last week and it wasn't just during the 4th quarter. They will score, count on it. They have tremendous speed. The question is when Central turns the corner, can Highlands keep contain. X found out that they couldn't contain the speed if the first tackler misses.

I think Central is more athletically gifted and have more potential than Highlands... I think Highlands players are better skilled, are more balanced, and execute better.

Yes. In the game I watched, he played D line and center on O. Patterson played linebacker on D and I believe tackle on Offense.
