I don't believe the bylaws intends for the player to have the "benefit of the doubt" when requesting a waiver.

 

The onus of proof is on the student/parents to satisfy the KHSAA Board of Control that a move is "not for athletic purposes". It's pretty vague, but that's how it's currently done, I believe.

Mueller not playing Mitchell is the right thing to do. It has nothing to do with him having a spine or not. Mitchell should have never been a part of the team.

 

The kids from Highlands, Bell Co, and Cov Cath in particular are the real losers in all of this.

This may well be Mueller's first bad decision (I doubt that however, regardless of what Highlands people think he is human ) but it is a whopper. He knowingly played a player who had been declared ineligible by the KHSAA knowing that at any point during the season a court could rule in the KHSAA's favor and take away any games highlands won with him playing. I've definately seen coaches fired for a whole lot less.

How is Bell Co and CovCath losers? If they wanted to go to state then they should have beaten Highlands..

They could only have been forced to allow him on the team, not play him.
