He needs to understand, that "Leadership" is by example and not calling out your teammates, for not doing their role. I'm sure he's hurt and like most players, speak first and think second but his play on the field, has been less than good, for UK and the SEC.

Yep, those teamates are ready to be in the foxhole with him now, aren't they? If he truly believes it he can make the argument to the coach, not the press.

Bottom line is he is bad and the WR core is bad. UK has to run the ball and lean on their defense. Take shots when they are there and use a controlled passing game to compliment Cobb's running ability. They have the best defense I've seen at UK in 25 years so lean on it! The offense + special teams HAVE to stop turning the ball over! I don't care if they have to be like Texas Tech to get their kicking team under control! They have a punter with a big time leg and great defense!

Hartline should not be on the team by this next game. UK needs to bench him for the season, because you can guarantee his teammates will not appreciate what he said about them, whether it's true or not..You don't call out your teammates, unless you're a leader and you're doing it to try and better them, in which Hartline is not. He was given more than a chance to be the QB and failed, take it like a man and get over it.

 

If he is allowed to play anymore this season then they have no control on this team.

Probably not well. I know I wouldnt. Brooks has defended this guy all year. He isnt very good and will probably be at another school next year. I also think this forces Brooks to retire after this year as well.

Brooks defends his players most of the time. I can see him saying it was a bad choice of words but made by a kid who has too much pressure from the fans. Brooks loves to blame the fans :lol:

This makes no sense. Why does it force him to retire, is he connected to Hartline in some way? Brooks will not be forced to retire. Please explain.

Even if this is true, it was a moronic statement, and I feel that I just lost some money on a bet about Hartline's playing time this upcoming game. It's no secret that UK's WR choices leave a lot to be desired, but you never, NEVER say what he said....Hartline's demise at QB is coming NOW!!!

I say let Hartline play Wr and run some 5 yard slants with the passes behind him. A few hits and he would shut up.

I don't like any player pointing the finger at his teammates and completely shoving blame away from himself. I wouldn't care if it was Mike Hartline, Randall Cobb, or Tom Brady... You don't shove your team under the bus.

 

Are the receivers to blame for some of it? Sure. All of it? Not a chance. Is Mike Hartline at least a little responsible for the offensive shortcomings? Most definitely.

 

I wanted Mike to get it, I really did. Some guys are leaders, and some guys are not. He apparently isn't.
