Did anyone else get annoyed by how McCain tried working the crowd by saying a few words, looking at the ground, taking a couple of baby steps, and then talking some more? I know this was his attempt to work the crowd but it just came off as very akward to me. Like he was trying too hard to make sure that he moved...maybe I am just being too critical.

McCain is deeper, more experienced, clearly more knowledgeable… but he’s also more boring. The questions were unimaginative, Brokaw was pedantic and dull. I feel like I just woke up…

Our culture has turned this whole event into a cult of personality as described by Living Colour in the late 1980s. I feel like I’m watching any high school election of class officers. Substance takes a distant backseat to appearances and attitude. I have no doubt that McCain would make a much better president, but Obama will look better doing it. That’s apparently what too many people want this go around.

All Obama had to do to impress a majority of voters, was to appear calm, cool and collected. He did this masterfully. I disagree with him on many points of substance, but even I have to admit that Obama is very good at looking good. If I knew he had the policy makers with the same value system and philosophy behind him that Ronald Reagan had, I’d even vote for him. The problem is, Obama is backed by the most liberal factions our country has known. I am very concerned for our future.

Didn't watch it; didn't vote. I couldn't care less what any politician says on the stump or in any debate. Totally meaningless exercises created by the networks to generate ratings and revenues. This will be what many feel is another condescending post by me, but anyone that bases their vote on what is said in a debate or on the stump is, in my opinion, frankly either naive or a fool.

I still maintain that Pedro is the best choice in this election.

I did not watch Fox for very long after the debate but what I heard was far different than what you heard. What I heard was that McCain probably won on points but barely and that his performance was far short than what he needed to make a dent in Obama's lead. I also heard a lot of criticism and disappointment in McCain's promise to delve deeper into the housing business by bailing out individuals holding mortgages that they cannot afford.

Honestly, the demonization of Fox News by liberals really gets old. I doubt that there was nearly as much criticism of Obama on any network as there was of McCain on Fox last night.

I learn to ignore those people, because they actually think that Papa Bear Bill O'Reilly is a true conservative and a good representation of them.

Did anyone see McCain bitter afterwards he would no shake Obama's hand...lol

I didn't see this. I saw McCain pat Obama on the back though, and both men shook the hand of the others wife.

The funny thing about this picture was that it represented Rosie the Riveter who represented the 6,000,000 women who entered the workforce during World War II to take the place of men who had gone off to fight in Asia and Europe. It was a representation of our support of the war effort.

Putting Obama's head on the photo is just plain ironic.

This was an absolute joke of a political debate. It looked like 2 school girls arguing over who should be prom queen. I have been undecided between the two since both were nominated. I slightly moved toward Obama at the beginning of this process. Leaned slightly toward McCain over the past month. After watching that display last night I am once again on the fence because both canidates were absolutely pathetic.

McCain can't get his hands above his shoulders, I don't think you'll see many high-5's out of him. I thought both were amicable afterward toward one another. Perhaps you're reading something into it that wasn't there.

IMO, Obama won....barely.

Reasons:

1) I've read over and over and over that Obama is a charasmatic, great speaker....as long as he has a teleprompter. I was interested in watching this debate to see what the differences in Obama's delivery and McCain's delivery would be. McCain is the purported master of this forum. Well, I think Obama nailed it. Both had stumbling, stammering moments. Both had times they had to correct themselves within their comments. But Obama looked at ease, comfortable and confident. I felt the "less" restrained format actually worked to McCain's disadvantage, as he didn't look at all comfortable. At times, it appeared he was ticked off, others he just wanted to get it over with.

2) Up to this point, I had never seen the mean-streak in McCain. I, as I've stated before, have never had any real issue with him as a candidate. Last night, I was fairly shocked at some of the snide comments he made...not those within the context of an answer or rebuttal, but in the interim between questions. I thought that was pretty petty.

3) Obama missed several opportunities. He did a fabulous job, I thought, of answeringthe questions....when he was presented the question first. I felt he completely blew several opportunities when McCain would answer the question first, and Obama would go into rebuttal mode, versus answer-the-question mode.

4) I feel McCain tried hard to really get under Obama's skin. I know that if I had been Obama, he'd have been under mine. But, I feel Obama handled it well. From McCain, I could literally hear the loathing in his voice when referencing Obama toward's the end. I think Obama got under McCain's skin, more than the reverse.

5) Both candidates would have served themselves better had they stuck to the self-imposed time limits.

6) I like Tom Brokaw, but feel he'd be a better moderator in a more formal debate format than the informal environment of the town hall format.

Excuse me?

You know I've heard the above before and believe it must be true. However he held that microphone and mid torso all night which made me wonder why he can't do well with a computer. I mean if you can hold a mic that long in that position then you can do some things with your hand and arm.

I didn't see a handshake or high five, it didn't matter to me as both led me to sleep long before it was over. What I did see that both showed great respect for each other. I didn't change my mind either way last night.
