Mistakes are part of the game...from players, to officials, to coaches, etc...this one just happened at the end of a game and is more magnified.

Hochuli, IMO, is one of the best officials the NFL has. This issue has been addressed and everyone needs to move past it...the NFL, the fans, the Chargers and Ed Hochuli himself.

It's funny how a team can explain away a handful of bad calls that cost them points in some form or another over the course of a game as "part of the game" and say things like, "The officiating didn't cost us the game. We had our chances." However, in this instance, it's all the officials fault. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't...but, if they're going to say officiating cost them this game, then they need to start saying that when the stripes blow a call in the second quarter that costs a team a TD and they end up losing by 3 or 4 points. I realize it's magnified because it happened at the end, but the end result was that it cost them a TD. I can't tell you how many games I've watched where the officials have been directly responsible for points being scored or taken away with terrible calls (the 2005 Super Bowl comes to mind). People can say that they had a chance to make up for those mistakes...and so did the Chargers. They still had the opportunity to stop Denver from scoring a TD, and then a 2-Pt. Conversion. They failed both times.

It's over. If the Chargers end up missing the playoffs by one game, they will have underachieved and I doubt they'll find any sympathy. That team has too much talent and the schedule isn't that difficult...if they miss the playoffs it will be their own faults. Not Ed Hochuli.

Very nice post. :thumb:

This whole thing WEARS ME OUT!!!! He is one of the top 5 if not top 2 in the game. He made a mistake. The Chargers defense still had a chance to win the game by getting a stop. Then they got another chance to win it on the 2pt conversion and didn't make the stop! Easy Ed didn't give up EIGHTEEN CATCHES to Brandon Marshall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He also didn't give up 38 points or whatever it was. I think the better team won on that day.

I sent him an e-mail (Extremely bored)...Let's see if he sends one back.

Apparently he responds to all emails, which is cool.

I know some people on another site who emailed him in support, and he responded to them as well.

Good stuff.

Anybody have his email address?

Not only is he one of the best, he also has the biggest guns. The man's arms are bigger than some of the players.

He is a real stand up guy...

The thing is, the NFL would rather he not admitted the mistake ...

From the Mike Carey School of Manhood

I feel terrible for him. He is a great official whose legacy will be tainted by one blown call.

What are the chances that any fan that sends him a nasty email would have the pills to say it to his face? My man's stacked...

Somewhat. If the Chargers make the playoffs, it won't be as big a deal. As has already been stated, he didn't give up 39 points.

I don't think this is anywhere near the magnitude of say, Don Denkinger's call in the 1985 W.S.

Not very likely I'd say. Dude is Jacked Up!
