I know of one area coach who has made it a habit of reading BGPs on a very regular basis and he bristles everytime he reads something that he mght not agree with. It continually gets the best of him and it has become comical amongest most of his assistants when he repeats what he reads on BGPs in the coaches office. Very thinned skinned who spends all his time criticizing everyone and anyone..Coaches if you can't stand the heat maybe you shouldn't read it..LOL

I know that Dale Mueller doesn't read the site at all. He really appreciates BGP for supporting Ky football and other sports and believes that it is good for Ky athletics. But its my guess (he's never told me why he doesn't read the site) that he figures that if any fan or parent has a gripe or criticism with him, his coaches or his decisions, they can't be too concerned about it if they don't pick up the phone and call him directly with their concerns.

 

And I won't go into my thoughts about fans that criticize their own program on here, as my feelings are well known on that issue. Perhaps its the "dissent from within, and don't air your dirty laundry in public" lesson I was taught in the Marines. Others disagree with me on that and to which I say: to each their own I guess.

I know a dozen or so hoops coaches and all read BGP. 1 coach still won't talk to me and I really didn't say anything that bad.

Like I said earlier in this thread, I think coaches should be members of BGP and, in fact, I think they are putting their program at a disadvantage if they are not. Just like a coach would be doing his program a disservice if a local newspaper called for an interview and he declined to speak to them.

 

The publicity for a coaches program is needed at all programs and this site provides a great service for all schools that choose to except it.

Exactly. Having coaches, referees, parents, and fans all as members brings a lot of different perspectives to BGP.
