August 31, 200818 yr Kentucky fans should be happy. Their defense made all the big plays they needed to, even on top of their mistakes. The Kentucky offense obviously didn't make a big showing, but they've got nothing but experience from this and things can only get better. As much as I hate saying that, I hate saying the following 100x more. Luckily, being a Cards fan the past two seasons has allowed me to acquire a taste in crow. NOMNOMNOM. Mmmm, good. Everything has flip-flopped... now our defense is actually showing that they CAN prevent big plays if they try, and the offense, with all the talent, can't seem to score. That's not to take away from UK's defense- it was most impressive. But Cantwell... what happened there? I wasn't one of them, but there were people wanting him to start over Brohm last season. The one good thing is that this offense, if they can get their heads on straight, have the talent to score.
August 31, 200818 yr My thoughts exactly :thumb: A 2nd win in a row over a rival and a 1-0 start for UK. A 2nd loss in a row to a rival and an 0-1 start for UL. This is a good win no matter how you spin it. There will be more spin cycles later in this thread than the laundromats down by the pizza box. The place was almost empty at the end of the third quarter, except for the BLUE shirts. The best team won. End of story.
August 31, 200818 yr What do you say UK starts Cobb next game. Any chance? .............:confused:Please! Why would UK start Cobb? Today's QB has never lost a game!! On the other hand Canthrowell  has a long way to go.
August 31, 200818 yr Anyone who thinks Hartline should be benched must have been watching a different game. No turnovers and great decisions. I realize he had the safety but his O-line completely hung him out to dry. He had nice touch on the ball and except for a long ball here and there he looked very level headed and did what he was suppossed to do, not lose the game. I doubt almost 100% that Joker told him to go out there and win the game, more like go out there and don't make plays that can make us lose. For a soph, I was extremely pleased and he outplayed a 5 year senior.

August 31, 200818 yr Sure, but I don't lay them at Coach K's feet. This is a very young team who have been through a lot in the off-season, and they need time to get it all together. I have every confidence in the prospect of their improvement. He is 35-29 all time as a head coach. I'm beginning to think he may have been a flash in the pan hire...
August 31, 200818 yr I am fine with Hartline at QB... Cobb needs to stay at WR, since he seems to be the best they have (aside from Tricky Dicky, of course).I wasn't really impressed with him. I guess we should give him a game or 2 more to prove himself. All I can say is the UK defense out scored both Louisville's offense and Kentucky's offense. Way to go D!!:walk:
August 31, 200818 yr It still goes as a W not matter how ugly it was. UGLY? I thought it was masterful exection, you don't have to have a dozen offensive touchdowns to make the game pretty.

August 31, 200818 yr If Kentucky's "D" is that good...the offense will get better as the year progresses. Good win. GO BIG BLUE !!!!! :ylsuper: My thinking too.
August 31, 200818 yr C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS!!!!!! Great win for UK. Myron Pryor's fumble return for a TD was my favorite play of the game. :thumb: Pryor sure has some wheels:lol: The part that Louisville coaches (and fans) should be upset with on the return was that no one (except a lineman) made an honest effort to run Pryor down.
August 31, 200818 yr I hope UL continued their tradition of inviting their top recruits to the game... No telling how many will now show interest in UK...

I guess at the end of the day, I wasn't impressed, but it could have been much worse ( he could have played like the more experienced, more game ready, Cantwell ) My main concern is with zero threat of the deep ball, the run game will be tough to get going. Hartline looked decent on the short stuff but just terrible on anything past 15 yards.
