Highlands/Colerain, OH Predictions

Featured Replies

I heard that on the news the other night when they were showing Colerain highlights so I am hoping that its accurate. Maybe Cardinal fan can confirm.

That is correct. In 1999 the Cards went 6-4 after the returning QB decided to quit football a week before 2-a-days and focus on baseball. Needless to say, we weren't ready for that.

1999 is also the last year we lost a conference game. We currently own a 58 game winning streak, home AND AWAY, against the following teams:

Oak Hills

Princeton

Lakota East

Lakota West

Hamilton

Middletown

Sycamore

Fairfield

Mason

Milford

Hey CF, are you finally ready to acknowledge what many have felt for some time: that Colerain is going to have a very, very good team this year? :D

I think that Colerain wins this game 27-0.

The one weakness if any that the Cardinals have is Pass Defense. They have their hands full trying to stop Highlands attack. The Birds def has to stop the power running game of a young Backfield. And force CC in to passing situations. Recover a few turnovers' date=' maybe score on specialties, And, I think the Birds should pull this one out. H-27 C-19[/quote']

I may be in the minority but I don't see HHS as a strong passing team. I'm not sure if you can live off of the deep pass and long ball against Colerain.

I know the 2-qb system is a challenge but #3 is too talented to not get time at the qb position this year.

The passing game is not there yet... like the O-line, time is needed to gel and mature. I am sure the passing game will develop as the Birds near the playoffs.

I do agree #3 is too talented to not get some snaps during the early going... Will throws a flame and I do recall the stud running the fastest leg on the State Champion 400 relay team. In short, the kid can throw and he sure can fly on the run!

You may be right. But I am really impressed with the TD runs TG has had against Power house teams like Beechwood and Ryle, right up the middle of their Defense's. He must really be a strong and hard runner.

Is that what HHS needs at the qb position?

Be careful what you wish for. I hope Will gets some reps as well but I hope it is due to Dale mixing him in on series and not due to an injury or poor play by Gudugli. This would be a good game to get Will some snaps and see what the young man is made of against the best in OH.

The Birds are going to miss Josh Conner and his 207lb body and 4.5 speed. Crawford is fast but doesnt reflect the size or strength to shake off tacklers like Conner has. However, you cant do anything about injuries so the Birds will bring what they have and leave it on the field I am sure.

What a night for Northern Ky football. Highlands is finally going to get the chance to show the Tri-State why they are one of the best programs in the area. Even with all the adversity the Birds have had to deal with, all the Colerain field and seasonal records. Coach Mueller will have the Bluebirds in national ranking mode. Look for the under dogs to win this one. H-27 C-20 Good Luck both teams!

Is that what HHS needs at the qb position?

I think not, But it adds another phase to your Offensive of attack!

Guys, you won't find much of a bigger Highlands fan than myself, but I was not impressed at all with the Highlands offense on Friday. Ryle is an above average team with some big hearted players, and they were able to stick with us till the end. Against a team like Colerain, you have to be flawless to be able to pull out a win. I just don't see that happening this early, with such a young team. Guidulgi overthrew too many receivers, we never had a consistant running game going, and like someone said earlier, our best play was a screen play. IMO this doesn't cut it against Colerain.

I would LOVE to see us pull this one out, but I highly doubt that this is going to happen. Hopefully the Colerain inexperiance can play a part in the game, but from what I have heard, Colerain has a special team this season.

I think colerain on this one. I hope I'm wrong.

As far as speed, I think Highlands has just as much. I am more worried about the size matchups that will go on. Colerain players look like they should be at UC or something. They are big kids! I know they also have the speed to boot, but SOMETHING in my loyal Bird gut tells me that Highlands is going to come out this week looking completely different than the HHS team that "sqeeked out" as some put it, a 20 point victory over Ryle.

I still take the Birds and will be over there to see for myself. Does anyone know the exact game time on Friday? 7 or 7:30pm?

Ohio games start at 8:00.

Birds make a couple of plays on D early and hang on to win 20-14.
