All Harlan Fans are worried about is the number of players they have.

 

Harlan County fans are worried about playing the district champs from last year. Playing for the first time as a new school and playing on turf which isn't an everday thing for this team. Playing a program that has had time to develop and the scheme they play isn't going to help much either. So, to answer your question we are excited and anxious at the same time. I feel like we would be much better off for the first game if we weren't playing the "chuck and duck" offense. Several games down the road, I would be a lot more confident but you must play the hand that is dealt. The cards are stacked against my BEARS and its easy to see why BUT we will show up Friday and see what happens!

Good points, but a few clarifications.

Evarts' best year was 1990 in Russell's junior year.

Cawood was unbeaten in 1985 and in 1986 beat Cumberland. Both teams lost to Danville in the state playoffs. The 85-86 teams were probably as good as the 81-82 teams. Cawood's only real good team in the 90s was 93.

 

The 1998,99 cawood team was very good also too HDE. We had 2 1000 yards rushers and a great defense!!

I may be wrong but I looked at the game like this! Last year Hazard beat LCC pretty good and Cumberland and Hazard were in dog fights both games. Everybody know Hazard didn't lose anything but besides the point neither did cumberland. By adding some the best players from Evarts and Cawood should make even HCHS better and should play Hazard a good game this year , if they were playing each other. So I would have to give the game to HCHS before they play based on what the teams did last year. But this a a diff year and the ball can bounce funny ways but Harlan Takes this one

I think HCHS has got to find a kicker and punter. I was not impressed with what we have. Field postion and kicking is a must for a good football team they can turn a close game into a bad one!

I don't think they had problems at all. This was a very good team playing a very good team and Cawood just came up short. That is the way it is in life and all must go on. I really think that it was one of the best high school games ever and I wish they would of pulled it out because I am thinking they would have made a deep run after that game. One or two plays you can always point to in any game that changes the direction but Newport just made one more play on that night.

There is no use to be offended over the comment. I just put PAT's in parentheses because that is what everyone remembers. I'm sure if we went back, and looked, we'd see things that hurt the Trojans chances.

 

It's kind of like the UK/LSU game that ended with that bizarre hailmary. EVERYONE remembers the hailmary, but not the missed tackles or turnovers. In the Cawood/Newport game, EVERYONE remembers the PAT situation.

Lets try this again, I may be wrong but Hazard is the only team that we can relate too. Cumberland and Hazard played and LCC and Hazard Played. Hazard beat LCC pretty good and CUmberland played played Hazard pretty good, I make this compare because CUmberland, Cawood and Evarts combined to make HCHS.
