What I am saying is that only Cumberland in 82,83, 86, & 91, Evarts (Scott Russell's Senior year), and Cawood (81,82 &maybe early 90's) are teams from Harlan County that understand how to compete against major competition in bigger classes. I think HCHS wll win this game...but they will have to play very well. Poor execution of the kicking game and turnovers will loom large if it happens.

 

By the way, how many State Titles does Danville have? They should be able to compete.

Evarts' best year was 1990 in Russell's junior year.

Cawood was unbeaten in 1985 and in 1986 beat Cumberland. Both teams lost to Danville in the state playoffs. The 85-86 teams were probably as good as the 81-82 teams. Cawood's only real good team in the 90s was 93.

What affect will the weather have on this game, if any?

The weather online on the ATT website says tomorrow will be hazy sunshine, says nothing about rain for tomorrow. It says the high will 88 degrees. Anybody else have any different weather info they would like to share???

In 2005 Somerset played two schools above their class. They defeated 3A Pulaski County 42-19 and 3A Warren East 35-7.

I would like to be at this game. Harlan County is what Letcher was a couple of years ago. Brand new consolidated school, tons of players, and all kinds of excitement. This should be fun.

 

Black Bear fans you'll enjoy Letcher's facilities. The stadium is built into a mountain which gives it an extremely loud effect. The artificial turf will keep the weather from being much of a factor and Diamond Vision scoreboard is just plain cool. I really enjoyed going there when they were in our district.

It will be a very wild and exciting atmosphere over there Friday night. I think it will be a low scoring game. It usually takes offenses a few games to adjust and figure things out. Bears by 6 with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. :thumb:

Low scoring game (Both teams under 20 points)- Advantage LCC and their experience.

 

High Scoring Game (Both teams over 30 points)- Advantage LCC and their experience, also if Charlie Banks gets ina groove it could be goodnite Bears.

 

Average scoring game (Both teams in the 20's)- Advantage Harlan County IM O.

 

The mindset of a close game when it is high scoring or low scoring as opposed to when both teams are having marginal success is drastically different IMO.

The only number Harlan Co. is concerned about is the score at the end of the game. THe only number Letcher should be worried about is the 11 on the field.:fight:
