August 11, 200818 yr I'd really like to see the Reds go after Carl Crawford if his option isn't picked up in the offseason.
August 12, 200818 yr I thought there weren't a lot of great free agent options this year.I don't think there are but perhaps a trade, in the off season. Free agency isn't going to turn this franchise around. It has to start with the farm system. Acquiring young talent and developing it are the keys to keeping small-market teams competitive. The Reds have already brought up those players, which can help at the Major League level. I'll agree 100%, about developing from the Minors but this is re-stocking at the MLB level. I mentioned before, 2-3 years and unless they sign some immediate help this winter, it could be a long dry spell, in Cincinnati.
August 12, 200818 yr Dickerson up. It was in the Louisville paper this morning but it took the Reds till now to release it officially.

August 12, 200818 yr I don't think there are but perhaps a trade, in the off season. Who do they have to trade?
August 12, 200818 yr That would ne a nice addition.:thumb: While it would I don't see him coming here. Realism needs to start setting in for some people. Sabathia, Sheets, Crawford, or Vlad aren't coming through that door.

While I tend to agree, I have a feeling that this hot stove season will be different for the Reds than off-season's past. I get so tired of checking each and every day and no Reds movement. I feel like this one will have some splashes however. At least I hope so.
August 12, 200818 yr Who do they have to trade?Good question and perhaps a package deal, of middle relief pitchers and a position player/or potential starter. I think we would all agree, Reds need talent and quickly, if they expect to be remotely competitive.
August 12, 200818 yr I just cannot wait to listen to Marty tonight, see what he has to say. Of course, I'm looking forward to seeing how the team plays as well.
August 12, 200818 yr It's going to be a very fun off season. The Reds have a lot of money to throw around now.

August 12, 200818 yr While it would I don't see him coming here. Realism needs to start setting in for some people. Sabathia, Sheets, Crawford, or Vlad aren't coming through that door. Players will go anywhere for the right price in today's world. That's the way it is.
August 12, 200818 yr Players will go anywhere for the right price in today's world. That's the way it is. But the Reds have proven that they can't compete w/ big time ball clubs for big time free agents. Not only that but say they land one of those 4 players I mentioned they're still no better than they were to start this year.
August 12, 200818 yr I'd really like to see the Reds go after Carl Crawford if his option isn't picked up in the offseason. That would be a great addition but with Tampa Bay now being a serious contender I just can't see them not picking up his option.
