August 11, 200818 yr Author Two ideas. Sign Hank Blalock and move E-5 to E-7 or sign Pat Burrell to play LF...
August 11, 200818 yr Votto, Bruce, Dickerson, With Alonso playing first base. Future lineup anyway, How close are the the reds getting to signing Alonso, they only have a few more days to do so, correct? Its a common occurance from what I hear, and I expect him to be signed... But we'll see.
August 11, 200818 yr Two ideas. Sign Hank Blalock and move E-5 to E-7 or sign Pat Burrell to play LF... I like the idea, they need a Power Hitting righty, but won't he be demanding to much money?
August 11, 200818 yr Would the Reds be willing to throw enough money to Burrell though? I know this current ownership will open up their pocketbooks, but I don't know if they'll be able to land him with the season he's having... I would really like to see Blalock at third, and I could definitely see it happening...

August 11, 200818 yr I asked the question in a previous thread. Who if any are projected MLBers in the Reds farm system. I took a glance at the Bats roster, and truth be told, I am not familiar with many of the names besides the pitchers. I also found it odd they list 4 OFers and all bat LH. Does the future success of the club hang on the minors, free agency or both?
August 11, 200818 yr Pat Burrell is making 14 million this year. So you are looking at quite a bit of money for a long term deal to sign him.

Does the future success of the club hang on the minors, free agency or both? Ryan Hanigan is already 28, but he could be the catcher, and the first round pick from last year, but I'm not positive where he's at now... There are only a few spots to be filled, and Chris Dickerson and Drew Stubbs could be the potential future OF'ers, or if Alonzo pans out, and EE or Votto can play OF, that could take care of that... I think the pieces are there if we're looking long term, but in order to compete next year, some moves need to be made, IMO...
August 11, 200818 yr Pat Burrel is Adam Dunn 2.0. I see Votto moving to left at some point possibly. He's a slightly better overall version of Dunn IMO....
August 11, 200818 yr He's a slightly better overall version of Dunn IMO.... At what? He hits for a higher average barely. Other than that his numbers aren't even up to snuff with Dunner and he is going to command 10 Mil a year in the FA market. I love the idea about Hudson and BP up the middle by the way. Won't happen though Gonzo is going to be at SS next year baring injury.

He's a better overall hitter, not quite the power numbers, and is better defensively. Bet you didn't know that he hasn't made an error all year...Plus he's RH.
August 11, 200818 yr Burrell career .259 Dunn career .247 Tallest of the midgets.... Only thing he is better at is D and average Dunn has him everwhere else.

I'd say at least 2 years - probably 3 especially if they get a quality catcher.
August 11, 200818 yr Now can someone please tell me why Corey Patterson is still on the roster and Chris Dickerson is not being given a month and a half to show what he can do? I would release Patterson, put Dickerson in CF, put Votto in LF, and give Rosales a chance at 1B for the rest of the year. This is the lineup I would run out there every game. Dickerson CF Keppinger SS Bruce RF Phillips 2B Votto LF E-5 3B Rosales 1B Haningan C
