My pick for this one is U.K.. I realize the game is played at the cardboard box but I am picking U.K. to win bc of one very simple reason......they will have more points than U.L. when the game ends.

SEC/Big East..............no comparison. 12th placed D in the SEC would amount to where in the Big East? I am just guessing somewhere in the top half when you compare the competetion in the SEC vs. the competetion in the Big East.

I mean last season although the Big East wasn't bad I don't think that U.L., WVU, UConn, Rutgers, etc... compares with U.F., UGA, Tenn., LSU, Auburn and the like. I also don't think that anyone wants to compare U.K.'s defense with some of the SEC teams and was just saying look who U.K. was playing as opposed to who U.L. was.

I also feel confident in that I don't think anyone wants to talk about the defensive powerhouse that U.L. was last season.:eek::lol:

The Big East isn't as bad as people want to believe. No way the 12th team in the SEC would be 4th in the Big East.

 

Heck, USF beat Auburn at Auburn. The SEC is a better conference, no doubt about it. But it ain't that drastic.

According to the NCAA's site UK was 11th in the SEC ahead of UT. More importantly UL fans are touting Cantwell as the difference in the game. UK's pass defense was more than respectable, they finished ranked 24th in the country. Last season a much more veteran and highly touted Cardinal offense only put up 27 on UK's defense (one TD was on a kick return). UK returns a lot more on D than UL does on O, it is very conceivable that UL won't move it up and down the field isn't it?

So I don't know what enpowers UL fans to think he's gonna be above average.

I think Hunter is a good QB.I don't care how good the QB is,the guys around him is what makes him look good.The OL will make or not make his season.A lot of players that are not experienced yet will determine how Hunters season goes.Just because he has some playing time under his belt won't mean automatic great offense.

Cantwell has moved the ball quite effectively against much better defenses before.

Good lord weren't those much more talented teams UL had around Cantwell than what he's going to have this year. The QB is the leader of the team, but unless you're running the option they usually aren't a whole lot better than the players they are surrounded by. QB is about the only area I give the Cards an advantage at, so I will go with my Cats.

On paper.... the only one that sticks out to me is Bobby Buchanon over Ashton Cobb at Safety.. otherwise no

I will take Earl Heyman over any DT that UK has.

With all of the off field distractions on the U of L side of the fence and departures of 9+ starters, I would think that UK may have the upper hand. Now, with UK doing their own impersonation of "Im above the law..." who knows whats going to happen in this game. There is certianly a lot of heat on the UL side, with coach K etc. UK had a surprizing year last season and really proved themselves bowl worthy. Having said all of this, I see it as a UK dance by 10 points in the pizza box. I know that may not set well with the Cardinal fans, however, UL has a lot of proven to do. Last year they proved that BB could not save them..... Anyway, I wont lose any sleep whom ever wins or loses this game. Hope it is a good one and enjoyable to watch. Lets hope for sunny skies and 65 F.......... Wishfull thinking I know.....
