1. Hunter has thrown 84 passes in the past two years. As for big games he was in on a thrashing of Murray State (73-10), and being stopmed by USF (55-17). So I don't know where all this expirience is coming from. And he also had 0 TD's last year with one pick.

These could be off by a bit, but in Hunter's career he's thrown for 1,419 yards, 10 TD's and 6 picks. These include games againts VTech, Miami, MTSU, Kansas State and USF. He has experience, don't kid yourself.

Alright, here we go.

First of all IMO UK will win this game by a touchdown or so. UL's inexpierienced offense will struggle with UK's more expirienced DB's and DL.

2. It will be tough for Hartline/Pulley to play on the road for the first game but, I see the D saving him. Also, with the help of Derrick Locke, and Dicky Lyons, Jr. I think the Cats will be alright.

UK- 27

UL- 18 :ylsuper:

Hunter did start, and played well in the Gator Bowl. Which is a bigger bowl than any player on UK has ever been too.

Cards....Home team, lost last year when they should have won, Qb, Pulley not playing, more speed over all.

There going to win this year because of that???

Hunter Cantwell

2007: Appeared in three games as a backup... threw for 79 yards, completing 8-of-14 passes... was 6-of-12 for 60 yards and an interception against South Florida... also appeared in wins over Murray State and Middle Tennessee... completed 2-of-2 passes for 19 yards in relief of Brian Brohm against Murray State.

2006: Appeared in seven games and has made two starts... has thrown for 700 yards and five touchdowns... completed 64.3 percent of his throws... threw for a career-high 340 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Middle Tennessee... threw for 173 yards against Kansas State... relieved Brian Brohm in the third quarter against Miami, going 3-of-4 for 113 yards... hit Harry Douglas on a 45-yard pass on his first play from scrimmage and tossed a 39-yard touchdown pass to George Stripling... was 5-of-6 for 52 yards against Temple... completed one pass for 14 yards in the win over Kentucky.

2005: Played in eight games, including two as a starter... threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns in a Gator Bowl loss to Virginia Tech... completed 15-of-37 passes and threw three interceptions... made first collegiate start against Connecticut, going 16-of-25 for 271 yards and one touchdown... completed 3-of-5 passes for 66 yards against Syracuse... went 3-for-3 for 60 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown pass against Oregon State, the first of his career.

So he's made 4 starts, appeared in 18 games and has no experience?

18 games, 97/157 = 58.6 completion%, 1,419yds, 7ints, 10tds

These teams are quite even going into this first game..IMO neither team is going to run away with it but it'll be an ugly game also..Hartline will have his moments but make some mistakes. Hunter will probably have a solid game but nothing spectacular.

Both defenses will struggle. IMO UK wins.

Final score

UK-27

UL-21

Still, I don't see UL's offense moving the ball effectively on UK's D.

Cantwell has moved the ball quite effectively against much better defenses before.

I just don't think he is all what he's blown up to be. Yeah, he was on the field some his freshman year, and sophomore. But he hardly saw 15 snaps last year and thats a big time off. So I don't know what enpowers UL fans to think he's gonna be above average.

So his performance against Miami and VT are meaningless?

He didn't get many snaps last year because Brohm didn't get injured. It doesn't take a cerebral giant to see that one.

You mean the 12th placed D in the SEC.
You mean the 12th placed D in the SEC.

According to the NCAA's site UK was 11th in the SEC ahead of UT. More importantly UL fans are touting Cantwell as the difference in the game. UK's pass defense was more than respectable, they finished ranked 24th in the country. Last season a much more veteran and highly touted Cardinal offense only put up 27 on UK's defense (one TD was on a kick return). UK returns a lot more on D than UL does on O, it is very conceivable that UL won't move it up and down the field isn't it?
